Hello guys,

I have an adult, not neutered, male cat (about 3 years old). I brought him to Canada five months ago from middle east where I used to work.

I found him when he was about 1 year old, he was homeless.

Two months ago, I moved to a new house, and since that I use a leash to walk him about 2 hours per day.

The problem is, he doesn't stop crying once we get home :( He always wants more walking and going to the little jungle near by!

He jumped once from the second floor window, and I searched for him all the night... I spoted him the next day (3 PM) passing from the other side of the street (maybe he wasn't planning to come back).

I think his searching for a female, and that's why he's crying that much.

I'm thinking of letting him go out by himself. But I am afraid he doesn't come back. I love him to death. I don't want to let him go but I feel he's like a bird in a gold cage!

Please tell me what to do!

I would really appreciate any help.

Since you don't want to get your cat neutered, then you should look for a vet that will perform a vasectomy. I'm sure it will cost a lot of money, but your cat wouldn't lose his 'private parts' and you will prevent any unwanted litters of kittens in your area. (Like all the others have said, the pet population is out of control.) I'm not sure if a vasectomy will control his urge to go outdoors, but at least he won't get any females pregnant.

If you don't want him to go outdoors at all, try to keep him entertained as much as possible...INDOODRS. (Quit taking him out. It only makes him long for the great outdoors even more.) Get him a variety of cat toys and scratching posts.

You might also consider getting another cat....if you get both of them fixed, that is. Since your cat is 3 years old, he won't take too kindly to a 'roommate', but eventually he will get use to having another cat around, and eventually will like it.

I had my male cat for 2 years before I got another cat, and it did take him few months to warm up to her, but once he did, they became inseparable. They are best buddies now. This option might work for you too. Good luck with everything.

I am sorry but there is really no safe way to let him out without having him neutered. Male cat are infamous for running off with female cats. I am not sure why having him neutered is not an option but I will offer this, if you think it is cruel to have him neutered I think that is more cruel to keep him locked up in the house horny and unable to do anything about it. I think that having him neutered would be relief from his misery. The only other option I can think of is to get a female cat as a companion to him.

The first thing to do is get him neutered! He wants to mark his territory, get some action, and patrol the area. Once you get him neutered, keep him inside for awhile without taking him for walks (you might want to make this a permanent solution). When he cries give him a little squirt of water to show that you don't want him to do that. The only reason he is meowing is to get you to do what he wants you do to, not because he feels like he's caged.

Indoor cats have the best life, they are feed, sheltered, and pet on a regular basis--you are not harming this cat.

Once you get him neutered, and teach him not to meow to go out, he should settle down with you with no problem.

Growing up my cats have been continually indoor/out of doors cats. They could are available to snuggle and consume, however performed out facet the various day. My mothers and fathers had a significant backyard with bushes and the cats could simply wander across the vicinity. All of my mothers and fathers associates knew our cats and performed with them as good. Since my mothers and fathers condominium was once in a suburb there wasn't relatively the risk of untamed animals that you just uncover within the county, or the rushing automobiles of a town. It was once kitty cat paradise. Now I are living in a condominium off a tuition campus. I could certainly not dream of letting my cat external due to the fact of the entire visitors. I suppose it relies on wherein you are living and what vaccinations your cat has had. Cats pick to be external however a few stipulations, like residing in a town, simply are not correct. It is continually more secure to maintain your cat within, however cats are happier whilst allowed a bit extra freedom.

You are being very irresponsible.

If you loved him, you would get him neutered so he does not go make a bunch of unwanted kittens and keep him inside. There is nothing you will be able to do if you continue to be a irresponsible pet owner. Hopefully he will run away and someone responsible will do the right thing.

it is wrong to let a cat out with neutering him, more unwanted animals in this world are not needed. all you have to do is stop taking him outside cuz then he forgets that he likes it out there, my cat had to go from an outdoor cat to an indoor cat cuz we moved to an apartment on the third floor, he cried when we would bring him home from my parents house where he could go out, once he was in the house and didn't go outside the crying stopped.

Yes he's crying because he smells a female, get him neutered or just let him go out, he will come home after a day or two.

if you're absolutely not willing to get him neutered than definately dont let him wander around by himself. there are already enough cats without homes. plus he could always just not come back or get run over by a car or somethin. you could always just take him out more and try to take his mind of the whole longing for female companionship thing.

If you neutered him, he might have less wanderlust. I had a sweet male that was neutered, but he liked to go out at night...he got hit by a car. It's a tough call. If you let him out you might lose him.

I would be very careful about letting him out by himself. I used to let my cats out by themselves and still regret it to this day. My oldest male ended up having to get a leg amputated due to going outside because someone decided to beat him. Your cat might just be crying because before you found him he probably just wandered freely where ever he wanted to. Be patient with him and he will get used to not wandering freely. He is much safer that way. You may feel bad for keeping him confined but you will feel much worse if something happens to him. Believe me, I know from experience. I blamed myself for what happened to my cat and still do every time I look at him.
