You type the numbers in by pressing the buttons on the dial pad.

2 answers, depending on what you mean exactly:

1) If you are talking about getting letters to show up on a phone like a cellphone or a landline phone that has a screen, just push the # button again. For instance, if you want the letter K then just push the #5 button three times in a row.

2) If you are talking about "spelling" a phone number while dialing on a phone (e.g., 1-800-ANSWERS), you just dial the buttons that have the letters on them just like they were numbers. In other words, ANSWERS is exactly the same as 2679377.

Hope that helps!

What type of regular phone?
A cell phone? You generally have to click a Shift button that shifts between Letters, numbers and punctuation.
What phone do you have?

All phones have numbers, so typeing them would be really easy,
You can also type letters, you know like businesses use their phone numbers to spell their name. just look at the phone, see if you can make up your name by using the alphabet, then figure out what numbers would also make up your name!!! make a game out of it!!!

Push the buttons like you are typing on a computer.

On an old time dial-up phone you can not "type" in numbers.

When the phone has the number keys on the receiver, and I have to write down a note, or am listening to someone, I use my left thumb to press the keys. If the keys are on the cradle housing, then I can use my right hand. If the keys are on the cradle housing, and I have to use my right hand to write a note, I hold the receiver in my left hand, and use my index finger to press the keys.

If you were to dial 1-800-CALL-ME7
you would hit the numbers first, then look for the C on the keypad and HIT that. Then look for the A and hit that. Then look for the L and hit that..... again.

1-800-CALL-ME7
translates to
1-800-2255-697

Good luck with that.
