Obviously a hypothetical scenario...I was just curious as to who they, or those that would answer the 'may-day' call, might be?

This is a non answer, but:

The UN Security Council would meet and condemn whichever nation started the war. The US would probably intervene to bring both sides to the table, because the instability in the region would hurt US business interests.

It depends on the context. Ok, let’s take the obvious example: Let’s say Indonesia supports terrorism and Australia gets fed up with it after another big attack.
In this case Indonesia would be all alone today and only Australia would be supported.

If you mean a group of allies like in the world wars based on common values, Indonesia would be supported by only the Islamic countries.

If Islamic countries become much more powerful/significant than now, probably most of Asia would support them, including China.

Unless China allied with them, which is unlikely, it wouldn't matter who their allies were.

Australia has a mutual defence agreement with the United States. This means that if anyone declares war on Australia, they automatically declare war on the US as well.

On a list ranking military expenditure by country, the USA is at the top. It spends more on it's military annually than the next 13 countries on the list COMBINED.

'nuff said.

Excellent question Spitfire : the UN is powerless, but can you accept the idea of boatloads of thousands of Indonesian soldiers coming ashore around Darwin, swinging machetes?
How fine it would be, tho, to see these murdereous bullies get the bashing they deserve.

Indonesia is mostly a Muslim nation, so other Muslim nations would help them.
