See my answer on your achilles problem.

Soleus probs can be exacerbated by achilles probs, plantars faciitis, hamstring injuries, or even glute problems. All that stuff is connected and a problem or tightness in one area can display itself in another. Stretching AFTER you run will help. Massage will help. Using the elliptical when injured will help (running with soleus or achilles probs is a no no...but ellipitical can be helpful and keep your aerobic capacity up while you heal). Buy the roller and the boots i mentioned in the other post. You will be very happy you did!

I doubt it is aggrevated by improper stretching. Improper stretching would only cause strain to the soleus muscle or tendons. This would be a minor injury.

The extra soleus syndrome is liking caused by repetitive action, (i.e. running) and perhaps, improper footwear or gait.

If you have pain, you should defnitely seek professional sports related practioner, doctor, chiropractor, etc.

Here is a link with related pains. It's technical and scientific writing.
