Got 2 myself-one is always mean on my posts the other was a bit of a pervert.
Some feel you can not have an opinion if they don't share it (thats my post stalker)
It not a crime to be mean-threating is a crime.
If they threating see who their server is (yahoo, hot mail,Outlook or who ever)and report them there.

Tasha ... this sounds messy. To be able to trace those emails you might have to involve criminal charges and you may not want to go there. Does she use a computer shared with others? It would be easy to block messages from her email address. Maybe you and her and whoever else uses her computer need to sit down and talk about this. the law and computer tech stuff might not be the way to address this.

The email address and servers they have passed through can easily be traced, but not the specific computer. If you use an online mail service rather than downloading your email (like Outlook Express), it would be harder to get to the background coding. It's easily done if you download your mail.

It can be done... takes alot of work and alot of time to do it legally. If you really feel that its a threat you need to take it to the police and file a report... Nothing can be done without a report... It would take a VERY VERY detailed harsh email to get them to investigate- especially if you live in a high crime area... Or if you are a minor and the emails are coming from an elder- they will certainly take a look into it.

I really don't know if you could press charges for getting mean e-mails if there is no threat. Maybe your Internet provider could find out where the e-mails are coming from though. They also should be able to tell you what you can do, if anything about it.

Yes they can in most cases. Look for things like;headers, HELO settings and check them against any you know she sent. Call the ISP (or email them) she uses and check to see if she is violating the fair user agreements. They can tell you if is not her. Check with local Police if they are threatening and contain violence.
Good Luck.
Or find a local hacker to assist in tracing it.

yes you can report the abuse to your email provider, there should be a place to do this
as far as what computer they are coming from you will need to trace the ip address of the emails, you will need a program to do this

If HE contacts YOU, then no, you cannot get in challenge. As for the YOU contacting HIM, this sounds ridiculous. I enormously doubt any police officer would allow them to pres fees for being e mail buddies with their son. So try to not worry an excessive amount of.

IF THEY MAKE ACCUATIONS OF CRIMINAL INTENT,THREATS,HARASSMENT, THEN CALL THE LOCAL POLICE SO AS TO HAVE A RECORD OF IT,,, YOU CAN BLOCK THAT EMAIL ADDRESS, ,,
SOMETHING I HAVE DONE WHEN GETTING E-MAIL FOR SELLING SOMETHING, AND WHEN I ASK THEN TO STOP SENDING THEM AND THEY DO NOT,,, WHICH SOME COMPANYS WILL JUST CHANGE NAMES ,,,BUT IT IS SAME PEOPLE,,, WELL THEN WHEN I KNOW IT IS THEM.. I WILL SEND THEM 1000 EMAILS AT NIGHT , TELLING THEM TO STOP. THEN THEY WILL..
