No, I don't think Filipinos eat THEIR dogs. But a very small percentage do consider it as a delicacy, and they buy it from the black market since it is illegal in the Philippines to kill and sell dogs for food.

And no, the dish "lumpia" in the Philippines is generally known as something like Chinese spring rolls; that is, pork and/or veggies wrapped in wanton wrapper then deep fried or veggies wrapped in egg roll then topped with some kind of peanut sauce. So if you're visiting, you can be sure that the lumpia you will be eating doesn't have dog meat in it (not unless you're in a clandestine restaurant that does serve it).

Almost never.
To begin with... there are very few dogs in the philipines. The Philippines are a pacific island nation. Most of the staple foods from there are seafoods, rice, fish, etc. It is not uncommon for many poor regions of Asian countries to eat canine, however.
But remember, the philipines is not Asia. The Philippines is a beautiful nation built up of many islands.

If you are talking about the mainstream Filipinos, of course the answer is NO.
But when you are talking bout the mountain and hilltribes, it may be a YES,
Well, other Asian countries do eat dogs too like China,South Korea, and Japan, all of w/c are Highly Industralized Countries.

BUt Filipinos generally DO NOT, WILL NOT, ANDWILL NEVER eat dogs.

I herd that in Korea, dark colored dogs, are a delicacy. In the Philippines, I think dogs are only consumed in times of famine, and only as a last resort.
I love dogs so much, I can't imagine, someone actually eating one. I won't eat anything, that ever had a face, that's one rule, I have always lived by.

Well to be honest with you I once ate dog its actually really sweet and tender however this was by accident I was in the army and stationed over in Korea and had accidently ate it. In Korea its known as kai-go-gee and they only eat a specific breed too I believe its german shepard. As for the Phillippines I really doubt it. I was once engaged to a filipino girl and asked her the same question and that is why we are no longer together she took it as a big insult.

The standard of who's your friend and who's your food is somewhat arbitrary. In India, cows are considered sacred and are not eaten. In America, dogs are seen as man's best friend, and not eaten.

The countries that eat dogs most are China and Taiwan, as well as some other Asian countries.
