I hear this word all the time. It is in brazilian portuguese. To me, an english speaking american, it sounds like bastonch or bostonch or something like that. I was told it had a similar meaning to much or more... Also another word that sounds like alegal or ah legale or...? I was told it had a meaning similar to good? Anyone know what these words are?

"Bastante" and perhaps "Legal"
"Bastante" means "enough" and sometimes can be translated as "a lot of". That'll depend on the context.
And "Legal" means "Cool, awesome"

Bastante = A lot, enough, a big quantity
Legale = good, fair, excellent.
