The flag is a symbol. We respect the flag. We pay tribute to it as a symbol of what it represents.
To me it represents all the great men who gave their lives defending our country and preserving our liberty so that we can live in a free society. I respect the flag because I respect those people.

They do not worship it, they respect it as a symbol representing their past, present and future, and their country and all who work to keep it free, which they all do in one way or another. I wouldn't want to defile their flag, someone might put a boot up your ***!

ok first of all, it should be do, not does. anyway, not technically no, but a lot of americans take their pride the extreme and hold the flag to be almost sacred "don't let it touch the ground" "don't let it get rained on" all that ****.
