No. A VCR uses a tape (Video Cassette Recorder). A DVD player / recorder uses a DVD, which looks like a CD but isn't the same type of media. You can use the same DVD media in a computer DVD recorder and a television DVD recorder.

yes you can you just need a burning program like nero burner or some thing along the lines of that so that the program encrypts the cd right away with out having to do any format changes

If you mean a Video Cassette Recorder, no because it doesn't record on CD's, it uses tape.

are you refering to a dvd player, if so you would have to use dvd+/- rw to record off a computer or dvd burner. cd-r do not record programs and are not recommended for that particuar type of recording

yes and no, they make special recordable discs for dvds than they do for computers, now if you have a dvd burner on your computer and the dvds work on your dvd player after you record them from the computer, than yes you can use the same discs

it provides good picture quality.

CD's are very versatile...
