If you are a naturalized US citizen, you have to make an application for a passport through the Department of State. For an initial US passport application, you have to apply in person and most US post offices accept US passport application with the original supporting documentation. Stop by your local US post office, ask for a passport application (initial filing) and read the instructions which are VERY simple. It will most certainly include an original or certified copy of your birth certificate (foreign) and ORIGINAL naturalization certificate. The average wait is 6 weeks, but upon paying an extra fee you can get it processed more quickly. Good luck

Are you asking if you're not a natural born US citizen, but become a legal US citizen can you then get a US passport? The answer is yes. Once you become a US citizen, you can get a US passport. Depending on your origin country, you may or may not have to forfeit that country's citizenship, but you will be a US citizen with US passport.

The only thing you can't be is President of the United States. To be President, you have to be a natural born citizen. Also, if both your parents are US citizens, you don't have to be born on US soil to be considered a US citizen, you will be a US citizen once born (unless you decline it for whatever reason).

US Lawful Permanent Residents (green card holders) are not entitled to hold an American passport. If you are an American citizen (either naturaized, derived, or by birth) you are entitled to an American passport no matter where you were born or where you currently reside. Inside the United States, you need to contact a passport office (look in the phone book in teh blue pages, or government section). If you are abroad (anywhere outside the United States), contact the nearest embassy or consulate. In either case, you will need to provide evidence of your American citizenship, whether it be DNA from your parents and evidence of their citizenship, or your naturalization papers, or whatever the case may be.

although you cant hold 2 passports if you get an American pasport you would have to give up the passport of the country you were born in. so thats something to think about.

IF YOU BECAME AN AMERICAN CITIZEN , WITH ALL RIGHTS , THEN YOU CAN APPLY FOR A PASSPORT JUST LIKE ALL AMERICANS,, BUT I WOULD ADVISE YOU IF YOU GO TO YOUR HOMELAND , THEN TAKE WITH YOU YOUR CITIZENSHIP PAPERS ALONG WITH YOUR PASSPORT, TO PROVE THAT YOU BECAME AN AMERICAN CITIZEN.
