In my personal experience, I left braids in my hair for longer that three months once and a few of them locked and had to be cut off. Luckily it was in an inconspicuous area that could easily be concealed.

You can leave your braids in for that long and then give your hair and scalp a rest from all the pulling of the braids. Once you take them out you can touch up your new growth (if you have a relaxer) and give yourself a good deep conditioning with a plastic cap under the bonnet type hair dryer. (I would use cholesterol or a hot oil treatment.)

Just make sure you give yourself some time before you get more braids put in.

It all depends on what style you want. Obviously...not so long that they start to look bad. :) But for real, micros you want to keep in for only like, 2, maybe 3 months at the most....so they don't make your hair break off. Individuals....you can leave in for the entire summer. So, anything with extensions...I think you're safe to leave in for the entire summer. Get em re-done before you go back to school. I loooove braids. I just forked up 300 bucks for micros the other day.

Many people will tell you three months but I must say it depends on the type of braids in your head. I personally wouldnt keep them longer then 1 1/2 a month because I dont like a dirty head and I dont like them to look messy. So I guess it all depends on you and whether you shall get them redone or keep them looking neat. Enjoy your summer :)

It depends on what type of braids you have. Micro braids last longer than most straight backs. But micro braids are a bit more expensive than others. If you take good care of them most styles...excluding the micros can last about a good two weeks. If you get micros they can last a couple of months..so you have to weigh your pros and cons.

get them redone in the middle of the summer then you won`t have to keep worring about them. But it depends ob the braids you have if their real small the can last longer than bigger braids. The smaller braids take more attention than the bigger ones.

You don't need braids to get your hair to grow. Braids just make the hair look fancy! If you got oily hair, wash everyday and learn to braid your own hair.

If you got dry hair, maybe you wash every other day.
A good rinsing may all be needed for dry hair.

I think you take the braids out every two weeks and maybe change the style.

1st having braids in your hair has nothing to do with hair growing the only way to stimulate the hair folicle is to massage your head for like 5 mins while you wash it
