Hi There,
I did my daughters wedding and it cost us about seven hundred dollars. If you go to church you can ask your pastor if you could use their reception room. If you can't do that most VFW's have a reception that they rent out and you can get it pretty cheaply and you don't have to be a member. If your family or fiance's family owns a house you can always do it out side. All the rental places rent chairs, tables and lots of other things that can be used for a wedding. If you get married in a church all you really need to do is pay the pastor usually $150.
My daughters gown cost 100 dollars and we bought it off the rack from David Bridal and I think that they are all over the country. We bought artifical flowers and I made the brides bouquet and also her hair piece and veil. I also made her a silk purse with lace and beads and it had a draw string. That was so she could put money in it if she was given some at the reception.
I also made the cold cut tray and we cooked and carved a turkey.. Our tables were covered with throw away table clothes in the wedding colors.I am sorry I thought that you were talking about planning a wedding.
You might consider renting a room in someones home. Or get with some other couples and rent a place together. Another idea is perhaps you can get a job taking care of a small apt. complex for free rent and you don't have to be there full time. Also house sitting for people that travel or have homes there and only come down to spend several weeks of vacation. I hope that some of this helps. God Bless,Eve

Niña Puerto Rico! Te envidio! Anyways rent a house in the campo. The metropolitan area is very expensive to start out in. And just start out with the basics, don't try to have everything at once.Todo llegara poco a poco. Good Luck :)

Maybe you could live on the beach temporarily. Have you ever camped out on the beach? There is no better feeling like it. The sand conforms so much to the human body it is absolutely incredible. Live on the beach but be careful of the sun rays.
Take care and have a safe trip to P.R.

Check with the college to see if they have facilities for married folks and if they have a list of low income apt/houses.
Or.
If you can tolerate it, room with other married couples and share the expenses.
Or
Get part time jobs that do not interfere with your classes.
Go to thrift stores for clothes. Get off brand items (they are just as good, trust me), in the grocery stores.
Have family help if they can.

When you get there maybe you could start out by checking out a homeless center and stay there for awhile. If that doesn't work, go to the beach and stay. It is very peaceful there and nice on the sand. Go there. Live on the beach.
