People want to be noticed and treated as an adult, but yet they still behave as a child. I don't understand why people are so stuck on having strangers like them who cares. Why do you have to dress to impress others, act differently, or speak differently just to fit in with others. Who cares. The main person you should being trying to impress is yourself. Many people I know are truly confused. Pants sagging, expensive jewelery, fancy cars, and all this does is lead up to a lifetime of debt. All this just to impress complete strangers at a club when you should be at home impressing your family or loved ones. Any comments or thoughts?

The problem is that we live in a society where we can't avoid being evaluated to some extent. So no matter if you are a mature adult or not, one will have to conform to some acceptable level of norms, mannerism, fashion standards and other crap. One may choose to ignore other's opinion of oneself, but utlimately, it will have some impact on people's perception with certain consequences. That's what makes a society unless we choose to live in the woods..

It's society. You've got to look a certian way, act a certian way. Has nothing to do with maturity really, it's human nature to want to have friends, or to impress someone. It has more to do with someone's priorities and self worth more than maturity. There's plenty of the world that conforms to what the current 'in' thing is.
Me, I'm and antagonist, lol. I have my own way of doing things, and I'm bloody sticking to it. I may dress a certian way sometimes to impress the hubby; but that's because I like the response I get from him. I suppose that's part of what you brought up in your question as well; but you said strangers; I don't give a damn what society thinks of me, lol. I wear something, say something, or do something, because I want to, or because I like to, nothing else. But that's me. Most people aren't as comfortable with their inner self as I am. Society's totally superficial, and it makes alot of people the same, drags people down with it.

It is human nature to want to be accepted. It's not so much as wanting to be liked as it is not wanting to be disliked. No body likes to be disliked. Now there are people who rise above this aspect of human nature and honestly don't care what others think. And then there are some who don't care to a certain degree, like me, then unfortunately there are some who are obsessed with making sure that everyone around them likes them. It's just part of nature, no one likes rejection, just some people crave acceptance more than others.

because they are feeling inadequate with themselves. so they need any kind of opinion to make them feel better, even though they should be pleased with themselves.
I dont care what others think either. I act the same way at home, around family gatherings as I would going to a restaurant, moving or just to the store(walmart).
they think that impressing others is the way to go.

I really don't try to impress people, but I still take a shower every day, shave, brush my teeth and hair, put on nice clothes, and try to be presentable.......not for them , but for myself. I believe you ought to be the best you can be. I take a lot of pride in looking, and being, my best. If I am my best, then I am more confident in myself, and able to achieve more. All, for me!

Because everyone wants to be accepted, whether it be by society or a pack of motor dudes. It's kind of like if no one answered your question. You'd feel unaccepted or ingnored like her.

You answered your own question. If they care so much, they aren't mature adults.
