think about it. how likely is it that somehow someone even if it is god, could seperate souls. is the concept of Hell just used to make people live good lives that otherwise wouldn't?

Jewish beliefs dont have hell.... I guess it might be a cultural thing to scare people in the end. But i doubt it serves much purpose now a days.. because of that the concept of Hell has moved from an actual fiery tortury place to a state of mind.. basically saying if you dont lead a good life you'll go insane or your mind will become the most inhabitable place... you get the idea.

Hell is a crowd-control measure. It's much easier to get people to stay in church--and give their money to it--if they think that's part of the whole getting-to-heaven deal.

Hell keeps people feeling perpetually guilty and fearful of every little thing they do wrong, so that they never know if they'll go to heaven or not.

Finally, the teaching of hell encourages the "us vs. them" mentality. Every Christian believes that he/she is going to heaven while others are not; and also that all non-Christians are going to hell. Likewise, members of other religions believe the same thing about Christians! The idea is always the same: WE are special, WE are God's chosen ones, WE alone have the truth, WE are going to heaven to be with God forever and YOU evil non-believers are not.

Nope, Hell is a huge lie, spread by Satan who wants you to believe in some kind of life after death, even though there is not ANY kind of life after death. Satan told that first lie in the garden of Eden to dummy Eve when he told her specifically,"If you eat of the apple,ou WILL NOT DIE, you will become like God, God is lying to you" RIGHT...well anyhow Hell means an afterlife of some sort, so SATAN will let you believe in that too.
Reality is there is No Hell, No Purgatory, only sleep.
If God chooses to resurrect you he does, and if he chooses to let you lay, well. he does that too, but you are dead so you don't know the dicision until after the fact.
Also hell and purgatory are a good way for the Catholic Church to steal your money, Making you Pay for Masses for the REPOSE of THE SOUL of the dead. CH..CHING$$$$ Don't forget to pay to light those novena candles folks!$$$$$$$$

Yes, I believe the whole theology of hell was developed to keep people in line, and throughout church history to keep people faithful to the Catholic church. I believe God will bring all people to wholeness and completeness. Heaven and Hell are both just bigger versions of rewards and punishments, which is really a childish perspective on the universe.

Yes. It's an attempt at crowd control. Anyone who presumes to tell you what Hell is like has either been there, should go there, or needs to be put in a rubber room. Note, this could be multiple choice.

Sort of. I think it's more of a way to control people so that they'll follow what YOU think is right instead of what might really be right. After all, there's been plenty of people throughout history (and current times) who've threatened it if people didn't get in line with their way of thinking. And for some reason there are those who believe it...

Hell according to the bible is the grave. A resurrection back to life is our reward for good conduct during this life.
When we sin and feel bad about it. Maybe we contribute more money so they make hell scarey. Who knows why they made it up. Probably money

Duh...

Wake up, and smell the coffee. The Catholic church which I belong to have used it as a fear tool forever.

Along with anyother religions that say you will go to hell for misdeads.

Read poetry from William Blake.

Yes, this is exactly what I believe. Hell is a human construct and exists only as a state of mind.

I think so, I don't honestly believe someone (or thing) is out there seperating souls after people die.
