When making wedding plans, wouldn't it be a good idea to make a premarital agreement that both parties will not withhold a relationship between grandparents and grandchildren in the event that there is a divorce in the future? Grandparents have none or very few rights in most states. If a divorce happens, the children usually go with the mother and the father's mother is usually left out of the loop.

I guess you could always add it into a pre-nup. However, do it asap because the closer you sign a pre-nup to the day of the wedding, the less likely it is to stand up in court.

What are the State Laws regarding my Grandparent Rights?
All 50 states attempt to protect grandparents visitation rights in some way, shape, or form Different states take different approaches to what rights grandparents, and caregivers in general, have to see, visit, and care for their loved ones. In general, one of the following two approaches is taken:

* Restrictive Visitation Statutes (20 states) – These laws indicate that only grandparents are eligible for a court's visitation order. Many allow these orders only if the child's parents are divorcing or one or both have died.
* Permissive Visitation Statutes (30 states) – These laws allow courts to consider visitation requests without the death of a parent or the dissolution of the family. So long as visitation would serve the best interests of the child. Some states allow other caretaking adults, not just grandparents, to make a petition.

replaced into it a legal settlement, or only some thing he typed up and made you signal? both way i'd bypass see a legal specialist, and likewise the courtroom could assign a legal specialist to the baby. finally, the baby's legal specialist would have the most effect on the choose as to the custody and visitation. do no longer overlook that ost states are in choose of joint custody except there is a few evidence of an not worthy figure.

The father's parents can see the child during the father's visitation time, so his parents are not isolated from the children.

And most judges would not enforce an agreement such as this. It doesn't take current situations into consideration.
