I honestly dont think I would be able to, I think I would instinctively run., Even though they all tell you to lay motionless, but how can you, with a bear snorting and growling, and huge paws coming towards you. The only way I could do that, is if I passed out from fright, which would probably happen any ways...

Animals are a interesting adversary. NEVER run, Ha!!! Then they know you easy food. I will NEVER play Dead, I just Hold my Ground and tell them to Back Down, because I WILL NOT!!!
It works, but, most people will whine and Fart about this, maybe they get ate someday or know someone who did because they DID NOT KNOW!!! and really not want to. I have never had any animal butt heads with me, it a Dominance thing. Like I the Alpha Dog!!! Hope you understand, it may save your life.

I would be too concerned with being stepped on during the whole sniffing process.. and I would flinch at the nose nudge.. I would apply the moose method.. run like crazy and dance around the biggest tree in sight until it gives up or becomes distracted.
