If i am not faithful in my spiritual relationship with my savior, will the Lord not "back up other relationships." i feel that if i don't start at my intended priority, lesser relationships will fail. what do you think?

I agree whole-heartedly with you Doug. It is very hard to maintain relationships if we can't even maintain the very basis of our spiritual being with Jesus Christ. Good insight and wisdom on your part.

If my relationship with Christ is suffering because I haven't been spending the time I need to with Him, it affects every aspect of my life from the way I handle difficult situations to how I interact with people. It's kind of like how I eat. When I eat the way I know I should, I feel better and I am better able to get through each day. When I rely on junk food too often, though, I feel the effects just as strongly. It affects not only my relationship with my pants and the mirror, but also how well I can think and act. For me, there's no question that my spiritual relationship with Christ affects my physical and emotional relationships with others.

People know me as a Christian. They may not like my faith, but they respect that I'm always honest with them, and will do the right thing, even if it means I come out on the lesser end of the deal.

Matthew 22:35-40

One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question:

"Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."

It is meant to be like that. First your relationship with God, then your relationship with others (including how to treat yourself).

Here is another one:

I John 4:19

We love because he first loved us.

And to build a good relationship with others, you need love. I mean lots of love! Or your relationship will crumble.

He gave us the bible to help us to be able to deal with others.
Dr Phil who we all know and love, basically says the same thing.
"Do onto others as you would like them to do onto you."
If you want to be told your beautiful, tell the guy he is handsome.
What ever you want do it to him. God is not your slave, he doesn't back up your relationships. Help you find your keys or wallet.
Wish people would quit saying stuff like that.
I contribute so god will give me stuff.
God just wants you to be a good person. You are judged for eternal life for your generosity, kindness and love. In this world your on your own. It is called freedom of choice.

Yeah, it screws up relationships if your parents are in the God Squad and you don't believe in that crap. Sorry, but believe what you want but all I can say is don't drag your kids to Sunday school, if you want them to worship whatever God you like.

All I found was Church was mindnumbingly boring and the people there were all narrowminded and extremely racist. That's just my experience and why I think organized religion in any form is BS.

I don't believe that Jesus and His apostles won a popularity contest.
Many times when we strive to have a close walk with the Lord it is possible that many of our lessor relationships will not understand.

I'd say don't bring up the whole "relationship with christ" thing if you're going to be dealing with rational, intelligent people.
