Hey. I just moved to Rockville, MD from NJ. And it's gorgeous here. I love it. Traffic is a nightmare though. Well, you can go to Whole Foods and they sell "boneless, skinless free range" chicken breast. "Free range" chicken is chicken that was allowed to roam free until they are ready for human consumption. They were also grain fed. Even though PETA supports vegetarians, they also have useful tips on how to find meat that was slaughtered humanely. go to ww.peta.com and order yourself the vegetarian starter kit. I am not a vegetarian but I love their vegetarian recipes. I am more of a seafood eater. I love salmon and tilapia. But, I do eat a lot of chicken too. I am not sure about beef. But, go to PETA's website and you can find more info. there. Also, go to www.milksucks.com. You will never drink cows milk again LOL!

Try talking to a farmer and see if he butchers his own meat and if he is interested in selling 1/4 a 1/2 or a whole side of beef.

I think Whole Foods is about the humane-ness of the meaats they serve. As a matter of fact they dont keep fresh lobsters anymore because of the way they are kept until they are sold. They didnt feel it was humane.

Laws today assure that animals are humanely slaughtered. I think any meat you buy would meet your desires.

I suggest you find a Kosher Butcher. The animal must be killed with only one stroke. Ask your local synagogue. It may also be possible to look in your phone book considering your location.
