Not only are many elderly people below the intake for calcium (elderly people need 1200 mg/daily), but also have inadequate vitamin D intake. Which of the following statements about calcium and/or D deficiencies are true?
a. Many elderly people don't drink milk; and D-fortified milk is the best food source for D (and an excellent source of calcium).
b. Many elderly are house-bound, or confined to nursing homes, and don't get adequate exposure to sunlight to make vitamin D.
c. Many elderly have diminished appetites, and don't eat enough to meet their intake needs (even if they do consume fortified milk).
d. Aged skin is less efficient at synthesizing D than younger skin, so even if they are getting sun exposure, elderly people may still not make enough vitamin D to meet needs.
e. All of the above are correct.

I vote for B; many elderly people do take vitamins, of which vitamin D and calcium are listed. However, calcium intake for an elderly man differs from calcium intake for an elderly woman. I am not elderly - yet, but I am required to take 1500 mg of calcium daily, and 400 to 600 IU of Vitamin D, which can come from 20 minutes in the sun or leafy green vegetables like spinach, and other sources of food, that elderly people could eat.

I would say E but, what is everyone else's excuse. You covered only the elderly but, there are many younger currently healthy individuals that don't get enough of their daily calcium and vitamin D also.

I know there are a lot of 'E's' here, but, I would say C.
When you get older, you do not eat as much-nor, do you sleep that much either. Your body is different.
An elderly person can get by with one full meal a day and maybe a couple of bites here and there in between.
