Hey, why can't we do both, enforce the existing laws, and throw the Illegals out of here. What would Mr. Fox think if he saw 12 million United States Citizens walking across the border into his country?
I really fear that our government is going to do the wrong thing. What kind of message will it send out to the rest of the world if our government says everybody is welcome for a free ride. I think it will be the end of the United States. This is a big issue and you can bet that the "axis of evil" countries are waiting to pounce on us. They will recognize a chink in our armor. We need to put armed troops on our borders today.
Personally, I really don't care if they are trying to do better for their families. I served my country to do my part in ensuring freedom for My family, and My fellow Americans, not for Illegal immigrants and their families. Let those so called men, go home and serve their own countries, instead of running away from it. And I am getting tired of all those so called Americans telling me to be more tolerant. Jesus was tolerant. I am not Jesus.
I also agree that the Catholic church needs to butt out of our National Affairs. We don't tell them how to run the Vatican.

Both. True if the laws were enforced across the board, I think it would reduce illegal immigration. But there are the factors of a very slow immigration system due to security and beauracracy.... and then the political spin of how we would be targeting a minority group and keeping them from living the "American Dream". But then look at the flip side of the coin... if things weren't so bad in other countries, people wouldn't be willing to risk it all to get to the US. But the hateration needs to stop. Most of the people who have come here illegally did it to give thier family a chance. I have helped some families that have told me they aren't supposed to be here. I'm not calling the INS tommorrow... tehy are really great people trying to give thier family a better chance.

It's not the laws that cause the problem, but rather the fact that the laws are not enforced ... you are totally correct ... the blame for this mess rests with the successive administrations, both Dem and Rep, who have stood by and turned a blind eye ... I mean, 11-20 million people don't walk over the borders in one day ... or one year even ...

Our laws are not causing the problem; it's the lack of enforcement. The government refuses to enforce the laws due to business demand for cheap labor to the detriment of American citizens. The illegals who come here invading our country are just as much to blame because they do not respect our country or our laws. They are criminals and should be deported, not rewarded with amnesty.

I agree with the first answer - both. The lack of enforcement encourages more people to come over, but the illegals know it's against the law to come here but do it anyway. Just because you can get away with something doesn't mean it's right.

Yes, that's why deport first, then make it a felony after they were given the correct time to leave. If they refuse they overstay and are subject to prosecution.
They broke the law and we let them. The get a free ride home and that's it.
Sorry, you screwed up, you trusted us, but you have to go home, two wrongs don't make a right.
The Catholic church announced that they want all the Mexicans to come here as many as they want. I wrote them back asking them to pay for them if they feel so strongly about it and not one dollar from any taxpayer any more. And their complicity for leading us to another war for independance, they would share that blame as well.
They were hoodwinked, but so were the American people and we shouldn't have to pay for that. We'll be glad to pay for deportation, hell we'll be glad to pay to close the border completely until colonization is no longer a threat and won't be anymore. Let Mexico scream all they want as they are and take us to the UN Court. OUR SIDE OF THE BORDER IS NOT THEIRS TO EXPLOIT AT THE WILL OF THE MEXICAN PEOPLE. PERIOD.
This is where my answers start getting long by reading other's. BigJohn, what makes you think in untold ten's of thousand in all states across America they don't vote? It is illegal to ask a potential voter to prove citizenship, so they all vote anyway, right or not. A guy last night posted a question and gave his reasearch as he just figured it out. Not three weeks ago a politician was speaking Spanish to a group of illegals in front of reporters and explained that to the group in Spanish. She denied it in English, but they had her on tape.
Wake up: They do vote, they do hold government posts.
Poncho Villa rides again against sleeping America, this time for La Reconquista.

Their starting to enforce in San Diego , 400 were arrested most with criminal records and some gang members and a couple of child molesters. I think all together it was 2000, only 11 million 998 thousand to go. Its the illegals causing the problem they need to stay home. If their was amnesty those criminals would be citizens. everyone has to be screened.

Excellent point, and I agree 100%. The problem isn't the illegals - it's that we have a virtually unarmed border, and no agents to enforce our immigration laws. It's like speeding - everyone does it, and only one unlucky guy gets caught. Before we change our immigration laws, we need to enforce them - and that means having troops on the borders and enough agents to go after the people who break our immigration laws. Plus places to store them until they stand trial.
There's no hate in immigration - but if you break the law, you've got to be prepared to pay the consequences - speeders and illegals alike!
