It would be something I would expect from a 5 yr old
and first time i heard it come from a 12yr old I was suprised
Specially the elongated "Duuuuuuuh"

Even worse with a slap on the forehead

I would defenatly say yes to any one over the age of 8
Cause for concern at the age of 12-16

Over 18 most defenatly

If you say it in a teasing, taunting, or even mildly derogatory way then it is likely to be construed as childish. Only use the expression if you know the target person very well, and both of you understand you are using the phrase in good humor. Even then, use it sparingly.

You may also use it occasionally to laugh at yourself to make light of a situation, as long as you don't mock or degrade yourself.

"Duh" is a sarcastic expression. Whether it's childish or not depends on who you're saying it to. If you're in elementary school, it would be okay to say it to your friends, but not your teacher or parent, or any other adult. If you're an adult, I think the same rules apply. You wouldn't want to say "duh" to your boss when he asks you a question. However, saying it to your friends is cool.

I don't know about it being childish but it does make you seem uneducated. I have a ftriend who says it all the time and it just makes her seem silly.

I think it's childish and rude, if you say it with several syllables at something someone else said.

My daughter isn't allowed to "duhh" me or say "WHATever" It's disrespectful.

It depens on two things:
1. How old you are
2. what context you are using it in
It is not a very posative word to use in any conversation tho..

If it's all you ever say, then it is childish. Moderation is the key!
