That's hard to answer.

I grew up thinking that I did the thinking for my family. And I was allowed to make more decisions than any child should make. But as an adult, I can see that I was manipulated. I was in charge because others abdicated their responsibilities. It wasn't my idea, and it was largely reactive.

I did hold up my science class asking questions about evolution. I guess there are some who would argue that I let church think for me, but I realized that what I had been taught was not going to help me argue in science class. I learned everything I could from other books. My biology teacher, bless his heart, would tell you I have a mind of my own. I gave all the required answers on the final, wrote an essay on the back about why I disagreed with all my answers on the front, and passed with an "A" and a clean conscience.

Do I ever take someone else's word for something? Sure. Do I have preconceived ideas as a result of my upbringing and influences? Probably. But I am responsible for what I believe. So it behooves me to know what I believe and why I believe it to the best of my ability.

I definitely do. I like to repeat a nice John Lennon quote when faced with questions similar to yours:

--
You're just left with yourself all the time, whatever you do anyway. You've got to get down to your own God in your own temple. It's all down to you, mate.

Yes, I think too much. I am not swayed by other people's perception of things. I like to analyse and make a well informed decision. I am seeking, just as we all are.

Yeah. I never get my thoughts out of a book. I may use the book to help me straighten out my thoughts but I never allow the book to think for me. If it doesn't make sense when I read it then it is wrong.

Hell yeah, I do. I'm an atheist, and a satanist, happy to be free from dogmas!

I use my head, not what people try to make me believe, and that is naught but fiction.

Yes, I can't imagine any one knowing me well enough to think for me and actually do a good job.
