Well i got a perm last year, and it's been in for much longer than it's supposed to, I think it's been in for at least 17 months over a year, and it's only supposed to stay in for 6, and my hair always had a natural wave, i have thick hair, so i'm wondering if i should do the chemical thing to get rid of it or will it get screwed up like my perm?? Any suggestions from people who have had perms??Please help, thanks

the alternative might be to get it cut really short, rather than put more chemicals on it.

Now, here's a couple things, you can't get rid of chemical with more chemicals. Also, the only way to get rid of permed ends is to cut them off. Your ends will also more than likely become very dried out during this process so make sure to keep them conditioned.
Another thing you could do is embrace your own texture. I wore my hair straight for years and finally realized that I couldn't deal with the damage and avoiding rain or water all the time. So, now I only wear my hair in it's natural curly state unless it's time for a trim or a special occassion. It's honestly been one of the most liberating things I've ever done.

Ok. I have super straight hair. About every 5 years or so i get a perm. 6 months usually go by, and I hate it by then. I usually go down to the drug store and buy a home perm. I just pour the solution in and comb it straight. Works like a charm. If your hair is already pretty fried, I wouldn't do it. Call a salon and ask.

You can do a chemical straightener if you test a strand of hair first to make sure it wont break off. You will have to cut at least an inch all over too. Also, moisturize -moisturize- moisturize with a nice conditioning treatment.

Since your hair naturally wave get another perm with large rods that match your wave pattern. Your hair will be back to its normal texture.

Get a straightening Iron from a cheap store. once you use is a few times it only takes about 20 minutes to straighten middle of the back length hair.

Check with your local beauty shop. If you do it on your own, you may take the chance of more damage.
