what would you call a good father and how would you rate him?

a good father leads by example. he has a great and working relationship with the mother, and respects women. to show the boy how to treat women, and the girl how she should be treated. he establishes the majority of the discipline for the child(ren). he spends quality time with them. watching tv with them does not count, eventhough he should monitor what they are watching. he knows when to be firm and when to be gentle.

This is up to some debate.

A good father would be one that is there for his children and takes care of his responsibilities. The problem these days is that most younger fathers were raised by either single parents that had limited contact with their fathers. So it makes it seen ok to ditch out on their kids.

It is a hard thing to rate because there is so much involved to being a father. If you need a rating I guess to use a scale of 1-10, 10 being the best.

10- the father who make it work no matter what that is still married and is there for the family.

5- the father who couldn't make it work for the family had to be divorced but is there for the kids when possible.

1- the father that gets divorced and skips town on the kids and doesn't help support them.

I believe that the ultimate beginning of a boy transforming into a man is when he truley becomes a father. Why? A father has a responsibility that a boy doesn't. Life. I'd rather a good father as most surely a 10! A good father actually enjoys the time spent with his children. He never constantly watches his watch, he just lets time pass with his children. As long as the love is shown.

A good father is someone who can joke around with his kids, but still be tough when he needs to be. A good father also knows where his kids are, what thtey like to do, what they don't like, and takes an interest in their children's lives. A good father is someone who takes care of his family, or at least his children, and doesn't complain about it. To me, a good father will take whatever job he can find just because he knows his family depends on them and he has to put them first. I have just described my dad. My dad may not be perfect, but he was and still is a damn good father and now grandfather. He is the perfect example of what a father should be; an unselfish, stern, but funny caring man. My father is everything to me. He is a 20+. That is my definition of a father.

My fathe is a 10, he is my best friend, and I his. I dont think you have to be married to be a great father. But you have to be a man.

You can be a great man, but not a great husband
You can be a great husband, but not be a great father.
But to be a great father you must be both a great man and husband (if married).

my father is a good father for me i think. i know we always argue in things but when ever we argue about something he is always the first one to make peace by asking me go out with him to eat. only 2 of us. :D
