if you decide to let her get it done, go to a salon and get a virgin bleach. a virgin bleach is not as harsh and a normal bleach. i think its pretty obviouse what a virgin bleach means, it is a bleaching chemical put onto hair that has never had color on it before. talk to a professional for more info, im only a cosmetology student, i only know so much.. lol good luck

I'm only 15, but I say no!
She's 10. Maybe when she's 12 or 13. But that's still a little young!
I wouldnt spend the money to go to a salon at least. L'Oreal Color Burst dyes all of your hair and washes out in 8-10 shampoos, I recommend that. It can't lighten hair so if she has dark brown hair that could be a problem. Where I live, it costs me about $6.
If she just wants highlights, get a home kit. Those are a little pricier, around $11 I think.
Every once in a while I use Sun-In on my hair. I totally recommend that. If you apply it carefully enough, she could get highlights. But its much easier to lighten all of your hair with it, FYI.

When I was 10 in the 80's, I really wanted a perm because that's what everyone was doing. My mother said no a million times over and I was "forced" to go to school with my boring straight hair in a headband or a ponytail. Now I can say with a smile that I do not have any pictures of myself with frizzy, froufy hair. Thank you mom for saying no! Will today's style of highlights look good 20 years from now? Maybe, but think about upkeep and touch ups. Is this a look that your daughter can maintain for as long as she wants?

Aren't they growing up fast enough? I don't know your age or how you were raised but did you get everything you wanted? Why are parents today afraid to say no in this day and age? Do you stay so busy that you feel you have to give your children everything they ask for or they won't love you? Would your mother have let you have bleach highlights at ten? Would it have killed you not ;too? When are we going to see that they stay children for a while? They're only little for a little while..

I work at an elementary school and I see kids as young as 6 with highlights in there hair. Both, my son ,10 and daughter, 6, want highlights also, but after talking to my hairdresser, I refused to let them get any. She told me it dries up their hair, and can make them less manageable. SHe also told me that if they really want highlights, that I could use a product called "sun-in" on their hair and it will lighten up there hair some, with no side effects to the hair.

Im sorry but WHO'S THE ADULT HERE!!!! She's ONLY ten years old. Your daughter shouldn't even be thinking about things such as this come on now.
Im not judging you, but there's a time for everything and an age as well, please let your daughter be child for as long as she can.
Besides the color might not take on her hair and just think about how jacked up it could come out.......... as an adult "Ive been there" and having jacked up, brittle ORANGE hair made me feel like "Carrot Tops" peeps!!

no don't highlight her hair she's to young let her grow up some. let her get older so when you do get it for her she'll appreciate it more. and it's like her getting a new toy after a while she'll get tiered of that color and want another and another and another you should wait until she's at least 14 or 15.

go to a salon to have it done and have them put very few in, as we all know that the more we do to our hair chemically the worse our hair is. And at the age of ten I would try to keep her hair as chemical free as possible.

10 is too young. Then there is maintainence after. My opinion is, 10 is too young to be that vain.
Bleach can have a reaction on her young skin, color highlights would be more gentle on her skin if you really wanted her to have it done.
Kids grow up so fast these days, TOO FAST! Why draw MORE attention to pedifiles if we can help it!
