hi, i actually just got my wisdom teeth out today! it wasnt as bad as i thought too. b/f going into it, the thing i worried about most was anesthesia as i have never been put to sleep before/dont know what it's like, but it happened so quick, so i'm fine. when i got home my cheeks were puffy and it was hard to eat even soft foods. my tongue felt like it was huge and heavy. then i put on ice packs for a few hours and the puffy cheeks went away. my mouth right now feels funny, but not extremely painful. and it is a little bit easier, but not easy, to eat. so i have a question for you that have had wisdom teeth extractions and remember a day by day thing. how many days after the first day will the pain last? does it get any worse than the first day? does it become easier to eat/brush your teeth? can someone, preferably a dentist or dental assistant or such, please tell me. thanks

I had my two bottom wisdom teeth pulled a while back and if your not in a lot of pain now, its only going to get better. They gave you some Vicodin right? just take that until you feel like you can be OK without them. After like three days you should be able to eat normal food again. If you have any concerns about it, all you have to do is call up your dentist and ask them about it. they will gladly help ya.

It depends on the extraction. I had all four teeth out at once and I was in agony for a month afterwards. The surgeon also dislocated my jaw under anaesthetic, so eating was difficult for about 2 weeks.

I found that the first and second days afterwards were OK as there are still some painkillers in your system from the op, but the next week was agony for me, as I had a lot of bone removed too.

The swelling started to subside after two weeks of being a chipmunk, but the bruising that started after one day lasted for 6 weeks.

Hope you have better luck that me!

For me? the pain wasn't so bad. I was numb for a long time and even did laundry three hours after the sugery! It all depends on your threshold for pain and also if you are getting all of them pulled or one at a time, because I got all of them pulled and did just fine. The pain will be bearable after three or four days, the worst pain I felt was a week later when I accidently tugged on a stitch! Ouch! You'll prob. be fine tho. Best wishes!

it gets easier after the first day, but the pain doesn't go away for a week or 2. stick with stuff like apple sauce and mashed potatoes for a few days

It takes a couple of days for the pain to leave. You would have to clean it out with salt water to quicken the healing process and to stop the bleeding.

I had all 4 removed w/ compaction and let me tell you, no fun! I believe it was months before my mouth felt normal again, but as for actual pain no more than 2 weeks. Take your medicines as prescribed and you'll be fine!

I can tell you from Experience that the Second day is the worst so make sure you have you're pain killers handy. Also after three days it should be okay.

only tree to four days lessening with each day. do not smoke or drink from a straw which could cause dry socket and it is very painful plus no oral sex!
