white rice, steamed veggies or veggies w/ honey (a lil)
or w/ lemon, salt and pepper.
you can do pasta instead of rice....just stay away from creamy sauces, try pesto or garlic butter or just marinana sauce.
good luck.
and instead of chicken, try grilled fish or a steak. u still need iron and protein. its all about moderation
hey i should be taken my own advice.
good luck.

The reason you are eating brown rice with your chicken instead of white rice is most likely because brown rice is loaded with vitamins and minerals not available in white rice. Brown rice (which unlike white rice consists of bran) has important nutrients such as thiamine. Brown rice is also rich in fiber and essential oils.
That being said, you can get these advantages of brown rice from other foods, and if you're eating a serving of brown rice every evening, you aren't likely to be deficient in any of these areas; so if you want to take a break from brown rice for a night or two, it wouldn't hurt.
If it's important to you that your substitute be another whole-grain food, like brown rice, one good alternative is whole-wheat pasta. Another thing you might want to try is cous cous, a healthy and versatile alternative to rice.

Try putting salad dressings into your rice while you're cooking it, it'll give it flavor rather than just salt and pepper. Or you can mix in some tomato paste, garlic, onions, red peppers & oregano with salt and pepper and a little cumin. You get veggies in there and the rice will taste better!

whole wheat cous cous, or if you want more flavorful try regular cous cous - make it with chicken stock instead of water. It takes 5 minutes to make, unlike brown rice, is pretty easy to find, and damn tasty. You can make salads with the left overs - its awesome!
