i think if he would have retire after beating mayorga then it would have been a good ending. But since he waited so long to set up the maywether fight. i feel he should fight one last fight to go out on top. And it has to be Sep.16 Mexican Independance Day

Yes, he should retire. De la Hoya has so many other things to do and is very busy with his promoting career.

Mayorga was built up a bit for his fight with Oscar. Sure, Mayorga may be a good fighter who has beaten other good fighters, but he was still nowhere near the skill level of De la Hoya.

The thing is, Oscar De la Hoya likes taking the biggest fights available. He fights the biggest name fighters and takes home the biggest paychecks. I don't think, to him, a final fight with Mayorga would be worthy of his legacy. He really does need the Mayweather fight to close out his career. I mean, if he's able to beat who is currently considered to be the pound-for-pound champion, well, that's just what he needs to do to secure his legacy. I think he can do it, too. ;D

He ain't retiring. His fight with Mayorga was fixed. Watch the fight again and look at Mayorga's trainer telling him something in his ear in spanish as he walks to his room. Later it turns out he used drugs or something. IDK. But I do know it looked suspicious from the day I saw it.
Also, Oscar couldn't knockTrinidad down, Trinidad knock Mayorga down in what seemed a tougher fight than Oscar's. I still think Mayorga could have given more than he gave. It was fixed and it was more a tune up fight for Oscar so he can fight Mayweather.

I don't see him retiring. I see him continuing to fight because he's o full of himself (what boxer isn't). I can't remember one single boxer who left when he should;ve. What makes Oscar any different? He'll go down sith Sugar Ray, Camacho, Tyson, Holyfield, Foreman, Arguello, Taylor, Chavez, Trinidad, and soo many others to keep fighting when they should just hang it up.
