your daughter is not ready to potty train. her muscles in her abdomen which we contract to hold or release our pee or bowl movements are not developed enough. all your going to do at her age is train yourself to catch her bathroom times. true potty training is teaching the child to verbalize the need to go, and being able to hold it til she can get her panties down and sit on the potty and for her muscles to relax to let the pee or poop come out.
wait another year and then try again. wait 6 months after that and try again. don't be in a rush to make your child grow up. there are preschools out there that will take your child in diapers. they are the better quality ones. keep searching.

Almost everyone now says not to push potty training too much. It was a big thing in the past to be able to brag that your kid was potty trained by a certain age, but nowadays it is pretty much understood that a child will start showing signs of readiness (on average) between 2 and 3 on their own.
I too have a 2 year old and I am keeping an eye on her for readiness! She is allowed in to the bathroom with me when I go and she can sit on her potty too. We talk about it. Right now, she still thinks it is a toy. I am thinking about buying her one of those drink-and-wet dolls and showing her how it uses the potty.
It is hard though because there is pressure from preschools to have your babe out of diapers by the time they are 3. Somone said "Nobody walks down the aisle in diapers" which is soo incredibly true. She will eventually learn to use the potty!

First of all, be sure not to taunt her for not using the potty this will only make things worse. You could try giving her a reward for going to the potty. Even if she just goes throught he mothions of sitting on it give her a reward in the beginning and eventually she will get the idea.
I bought a potty video that had singing and dancing to potty songs and my daughter love it! We would give her a sticker each time she used the potty and it was always a big celebration. Remember as frustrating as it may be do not call her a baby or get angry if she doesn't do it right away. She will I promise!!

I give my kids treats out of a little box that has things like cars, lollipops, bubbles, bouncy balls, other stuff like that for when she goes pee and then take her out and let her pick out a bigger toy for when she goes poop. I don't recommend you to do that every time she does it, but to establish her potty routine. Another way is when you run her a bath, take off her diaper or pull-up and set her on the potty before you put her in the tub. Now that it's warm, let her run around outside and when she pee's, start talking to her about it. Go out and get her a little potty and a book you can read to her about it. I am going through that now with a 4 year old and a 2 1/2 year old boys. Boy is that hard!

Place a potty seat in a prominent spot. Let her know when you use the bathroom. You can also use on of her dolls and a toy size potty to illustrate. The idea is to get her thinking about using the potty.
Other signs to look for that will indicate that she is ready are
-She wants her diaper changed as soon as she goes
-She is aware of the fact that she is peeing
-She pulls on her diaper after she wets it

I have four children!!! I always found that if you would wait until they're ready, then it's not as hard. My children, would start pulling their diapers off when they got wet. Also, when they started going all night and didn't have a wet diaper in the morning, they're ready. I bought their favorite type individually wrapped candy (mine loved chocolate kisses), and a potty chair. I told them when they used the potty (you could say like mommy, since you have a daughter), they could have a piece. Even if she just sits on it, give her a piece, Let her go in there with you, she'll catch on alot faster. Let her sit on the potty while you sit on yours. And explain how it's done. And then reward her! Good Luck!!!

I had my, now 4 year old, to start using the potty when I placed her potty in front og the tv. I had her sit on it while her favorite tv show - Barney - was on, and eventually she went in the potty and I just praised her and rewarded her with a treat. It wasn't long after that she started to use the potty on her own.

Try the "musical potty" which plays songs after the toddler goes. I heard abt it on the Today show over a year ago. Perhaps do a web search to find it.
