Bio fuels...such as corn, and vegetation to reduce our dependencies...

Coal, it can be made into oil...expensive process, but with the cost, they finally got it to where they want it, so a new industry is about to take over now.

Trees being made into oil then gas...it will decay into some form of fuel, or biodegraded with chemical compounds to do so.

Solar isnt energy efficient yet, because the fuel cells are too heavy and the solar value isnt up there as always available yet.

Wind power for home and solar power for homes.

Streams and other natural water ways for electricity.

Plus there are many more ways, but these are a start...

I wish you well..

First will be alternative fuels like natural gas, coal, methane, ethanol, MagneGas (can be made from low grade garbage), and so on.
Next are alternative sources of energy like nuclear fission, wind, and photovoltaic solar.
Next are better design and conservation.
Together, they will slow the increase in our use of oil.
When oil becomes too scarce to burn, we'll simply lower our standard of living.
