Nope... House rules are house rules.

If that was something that THIS FAMILY had as a criterion, then it's perfectly within the parents rights... even within the parent's responsibility to enforce.

What is STUPID... is some person PRESUMING that their own view of the world should apply or govern the rules of some other FAMILY which is being RUN by ADULTS.

That's stupid.

Honestly, it is not stupid. There may be more to it that you do not know. Maybe he/she was told to not have it? Maybe he/she has drank all the rest? Bottom line, the parent is the one who bought it and worked for it. Sometimes the children are inconsiderate and unappreciative. Hard to come to any conclusions without the enitre story.

This is so strange.
What exactly was the crime? Maybe your friend really drank the last 6 cans of soda in the house - all in a row?
Otherwise, this is strange.

Since it was the last can of soda, maybe your friend should had waited for the parent to buy more soda to make it fair for everyone.

did your friend also drink all the others if so she should have asked if anybody else wanted one. no one has an automatic right to take, it is good manners to ask the parents permision first .it teaches respect and though for others in this way

When I was growing up that's the way it was in our house too. We weren't even allowed in the fridge. We had a pretty bad childhood. I am sure hers isn't that great either.

Sometimes when people say why they got in trouble, they leave some stuff out. Its possible that there is more to the story that he/she didn't tell you.

yes, i feel for your friend. something is wrong with his parents. keep being a friend to him, he needs all the support he can get. also, look for sighs of abise, if you think you should, do not hesitate to tell an adult.
