Through the power of almighty God, the inspired Holy Scriptures passed by word of mouth from generation to generation and remained true in all matters of God and faith until finally written down.
Catholics do not believe the Holy Scriptures are necessarily historical factual especially in the stories of the book of Genesis.
With love in Christ.

You assume that it has been 5000 years of word of mouth. It hasn't.
The original texts of Biblical authors and Bible scholars of the early church are the basis of all translations of the Bible and many / most of them are still archived in church libraries, predominantly Catholic ones, and still exist today in their original language. Since most of us do not speak or read Aramaic, Greek, Latin and other ancient languages, we must rely on scholars who do to translate. There really have been very few translations in the last 5000 years but ALL of them have been based on the original texts, not on the previous or most recent version.
Do you think that our written Constitution is a 200 year old game of telephone? No, because we have a written document. Likewise with the Bible.

It wasn't a 'story', passed down. It was meticulously written and rewritten over the span of 1600 years by 40 people, some who never met. As a person who probably has not read it yourself, you would not know that the collection of writings remained textually consistant. Also surviving manuscripts date to before200 BC. Proving it hasn't "telephoned" in at least the last 2200 years. Next time, put down something you know about.
Don't expose your loose grip on knowledge.

Despite being written by more than 40 authors over a period of about 1,600 years, the Bible displays amazing unity and continuity. The Bible is compleately accurate with respect to history, archaeology and prophecy.

What the blazes are you trying to say?
Thank goodness, god didn't choose you to write the bible!
BTW Why should something 5,000 years old be automatically dissed?
You have just dismissed all archeology and art.
You have just dismessied history.
Now I shall dismiss you.
