Being told by Christians that you are going to hell or the fact that people live their life in fear of a terrible, punishing place that does not exist.

For me, I could care less what they say about me. I'm saddened by the fact that their fear of a hell and hope of a heaven is what drives them in their life.

We've only got so many years to live. Let's try to avoid hell on earth and shoot to make this place a heaven.

Hey sans! I think that the saddest thing is the sheer number of otherwise perfectly intelligent people that stunt their mental growth by imprisoning themselves withing a system of beliefs. Einstein refused to publish several important papers for years, for fear that they would be seen as evidence of the lack of existence of God.

As you probably know, I'm not an Atheist, but since I don't believe in any kind of eternal hell, I feel I can answer this question with my opinion too. ;-)

It saddens me the most that there are people who genuinely believe that most of the people in the world are going to hell. That is a frightful thing to think. If I believed that, I'd be sad all the time. So what if I was saved, if all my friends and family were going to suffer the worst eternal torment beyond imagination. It is sad that people would think that an all-knowing, and all-LOVING Being would have such a reign of terror.

It is sad that people let reward and punishment be their ultimate motivation for being good. How good are they really, if that is all that motivates them? I think the idea prevents them from being good for goodness' sake.

I'm sadden by the fact that people are so obsess about what others believe. Christians: People have the right to believe that there is no God. Atheists: People have the right to believe that there is a God. Just because of your disbelief in God helps you get through the day, it doesn't mean that it will help everyone else. Everyone is different. Vice Versa to Christians, Muslims, or anybody else. Focus on living your own lives!

Apparently you get off on this. I can appreciate that you do not believe and that is fine as long as you are making an educated decision. I am Christian. I do not live my life in fear, I live my life loving people like you who mock GOD. If someone is a Christian, is it hurting you? If someone believes in heaven or hell is it hurting you? I am very saddened that this is what you find enjoyment in.
May Gods grace and love find and save you one day.

I agree. It means nothing to me when Christians tell me I am going to Hell. I think Hell is a place made up to scare people.

I feel sorry for people who question EVERYTHING they do, second guessing themselves, all because of a fear of Hell.

If you are a good person, and you contribute positively to society, then there is no reason to be superstitious of a place that doesn't exist.

There is one thing that disappoints me.

People who accept the Fundamentalist interpretation of Christianity and repress what their own intuitive moral senses tell them:

They refuse to see Hell as a moral wrong, despite it's inability to be anything but.

They cannot see the inanity of calling Homosexuality immoral, holding onto this simply because the Bible says so.

Thankfully, Christians are able to see most of the laws of Leviticus to be absurd. No one thinks women wearing pants is a sin and neither do they think wearing multifabric clothing or breeding mules are sins.

Holy sh*t. Good one man. Look at how many ignorant people still tell you that you're on your way to hell. HAHA.

Such a good way to look at it.

I'm religous... I recently asked a question and people were telling me to grow a ball or that i'm close minded. he he. people that say things like that are the ones that are close minded.

And I widh that the fear of hell wasn't what scared people. I for one realize the blessings of helping people.

way to go. now me being religous I want to convert you... haha.

you have a life that is un-explained.where did everything originate from?the bible is our study guide through life.it is our instructions.however man has rewritten the bible so many times , we ask ;what should we believe, right? you can believe that what ever brought you into existance -- there is a blessing on earth for you, if you just believe in God!!you don't have to be perfect, he'll clean you up if you just believe.strike a lighter-hold your hand over the top of it;if it burns imagine eternal hell-you can't put the flame out.

I am an atheist, although god was my college nickname.

But, live and let live I say.

I am not saddened by anyone. But I do respect people who have different beliefs than their parents. At least it means they've made their own decision.

Atheist are anti christ, they are non believers that are lost in sin..

Part of being made in God’s image means that Adam had the capacity to make free choices. Although he was given a righteous nature, Adam made an evil choice to rebel against his Maker. In so doing, Adam marred the image of God within himself, and he passed that damaged likeness on to all his children, including us (Romans 5:12). Today, we still bear the image of God (James 3:9), but we also bear the scars of sin. Mentally, morally, socially, and physically, we show the effects.

What makes me sad is that they think they have the right to impose their beliefs on everyone. They think that because they don't like it or because they think its wrong, that everyone else should have to live with it their way. It ruins peoples life's. To be denied basic rights because a 3000 year old book that makes no sense and could have been changed to fit whatever someone wanted, says to is just wrong. Its fine with me to believe whatever you want. Just you do it and leave me out. I want nothing to do with what you believe and I don't want, or appreciate that you want to believe it too, no matter your motives. You be saved, I will worry about me. No God, no problem.
