Right now I only have nine pets. This is rather low for me. All of them have at least one nickname. My cockatoo is Lilly-and-Frilly Lilly Baby Boo, Little Plucked Chicken. My macaw Rosie is Rosie Posie Puddin And Pie, and Chuckle Bird. My dalmation Pinky is-Poo Head. I won't name them all, but yes, people give they're pets nicknames!

My dog's name is Charlie and last year he had a really bad sinus infection that took a very long time and alot of prescriptions to get over. He finally got over it but the whole time he had it he always had snot in his nose so we called him Boogerface all the time. It kind of stuck and now we still call him that even though he's better. Everyone looks at me funny though when they hear me call him that for the first time.

My kitty is Oliver, and I call him Ollie, Ooley, Ollie-bear, Ol,and sometimes I call him Oliviera because this silly foreign vet one time couldn't pronounce his name and called him Oliviera. Oh it was silly and fun. I think nicknames for pets are just another way people show affection towards something they love. I know I love my kitty.
My family-in-law calls their dog Chelsea, Chelly, Chel-Bell, Melly, and Mel. Adorable

my little dog's name is Leah. well offically on her papers it is Hembree's Leah's Heart a Flame. but we call her Leah. we also call her boo boo or princess, or brat, or baby girl. she knows her name and comes to it well, although she is hardly ever called by it. also, my mom has a dog named McTavish. we call him Tavie, Tavish, and McT. so nicknaming a dog or any animal for that matter is not uncommon, and it seems to make the bond between owner and animal all that much stronger.
