Women can preach and teach - but Biblically speaking they can not be Pastors - not an overseer of the Church.
Even then the woman needs to be full of the Spirit or else she just ends up babbling about things she knows nothing about. MEN AS WELL!!!!
And as far as Men Pastors - there are a great many who are in the position who have ignored the requirements. These men I would not sit under because if they ignore the written word, how can they truly teach it?

Yes, I believe women can be preachers. In the OT, there was Deborah the judge, and Huldah the prophetess. Miriam was a prophetess. In the NT, Jesus sent Mary Madgalene and other women to tell the male disciples about his resurrection, and he later chastised the men for not believing the women. Priscilla helped to teach Apollos about Jesus. Both Testaments talk about the Holy Spirit being poured out on both men and women.
There are NT passages about women not speaking in church or having authority over men. However, some people believe this refers to 1) proper behavior in church, as in not speaking out of turn, and 2) a woman not usurping the authority of her husband or treating him like an underling. The Bible does not give all men authority over all women.
It's possible that God will call mostly men to preach, but this doesn't mean that he will never call a woman, even if there are men available.

The Baptist don't allow women as pastors of congregations, but do allow ministers, teachers, and some may call them preachers though that may be the wrong term. The Apostle Paul said he did not allow women to 'teach' (this could be translated to lead or pastor), because it was woman who was deceived first then gave to man. Some see this as a point on which to stand theologically.

Don't remember exactly what Isaiah's wife was, I think maybe a prophet, but don't remember exactly, but she was obviously in a leadership role. Also remember that Paul is the one who said women shouldn't speak in church, because at that time women weren't allowed to learn Hebrew, and all services were conducted in Hebrew, so they couldn't understand the sermon and therefore got bored and tended to talk to each other. Jewish women also were not allowed to learn to read then either, so they didn't have a chance of preaching a torah they couldn't even read. It wasn't until the gentiles got into the mix that it was allowed to be spoken in anything other than Hebrew. Just think how boring it would be to sit in church and not understand what they're saying. So I think the whole woman not speaking in church thing had more to do with the fact that couldn't speak Hebrew than anything else.
My paster is a woman, and she does a great job.

Sexysam! The answer to your question is yes! women can be preachers but their mental makeup is such as well as their physiology is such it will make it very difficult for them to give forth the message which is not tainted with other considerations. And as you well know the PMS blues can get you rather down in the dumps. Therefore they are not excepted worldwide as persons who are able to keep things on an even keel as such. The other drawback is the need to have children, husband etc.etc. will act as an obstacle. Hope this answers your question to some extent.

The role of women in the kingdom of God is confirmed by reading about the women in the Bible. While many women in scripture were primarily wives and mothers like Sarah, who called Abraham lord, others were influential in the broader community and held positions of leadership in the church. In the Old Testament, Deborah ruled the nation of Israel, judging and leading the men of Israel into battle, read that again she lead men into battle??? She was, as all the Judges were, a prophet.
In the New Testament, who was the first person to see the Christ resurrected?? it was a woman -- Mary Magdalene. Christ spoke to her of spiritual things and commanded her to preach the gospel -- to tell the disciples of his resurrection. He revealed the future to her, telling her of his ascension, and ordered her to tell the disciples of it.

The Bible (OT) says a women is to sit down and be quite in church. If she has a question, she should wait till after church and then consult her husband, however, we are living in different times, and God NEEDS all of us out there spreading the word, and bringing more souls to his feet. I think God blesses the women prechers/teachers in the same way he blesses the men. When the OT was written, women were thought of as a baby vessel, women didnt go out and work--say become carpenters, and I do think that did reflect itself in the OT. God has called us all in what some say these "latter days" or "end times" to open our hearts, pour out our voices over all the land and preach the good word...Men AND women. God Bless.

Any person reading the Bible and making a conclusion would say that a woman should not be a pastor of a local church having authority over men.
Given all the other needs within the church body, - I'd say there's plenty of other honorable work that a woman is CALLED to do!!

God used women in both the Old and New Testament to proclaim his messasge. One prominent OT example is that of Deborah (Judges 4:4) She was both a prophetess and the governmental leader of Israel. Acts says "Your sons and daughters shall prophecy."

Women can be preachers.
Most Christians conveniently ignore Jesus command at
Matthew 28:19,20.
That was a command to preach given to ALL Christ's followers.
IN the congregation, INSIDE the Christian organization, it seems men take the lead in preaching.
Preaching to the converted is mostly a man thing.
Are you offended?
