I would feel that if one wanted to be a true Christian then one should be willing to give blood to help others live. Children with lukeamia rely on blood tranfusions and this can not only help them live but help them beat the disease.
Would a JW feel in their heart that giving blood to save another is fundamentally a good thing but not do it because of their literal interpretation from their own version of the Bible?

They believe that the Bible teaches taking blood through the mouth or veins is against God's laws. The the soul of the 'flesh' (human) is contained in the blood, and that your soul will be contaminated by taking an-others. If they do have a transfusion they believe it leads to being "Cut off" as well as ill-health effects.
I am not a Jehovah's Witness, but this is the information I have learned about them in a class. Perhaps asking a actual J.C., would result in a more accurate understanding.

Who said it was needed?A doctor? Gee, they're never wrong.
Let's see, on average 80,000 people a year die as a direct result
of doctor's/nurses mistakes.
Then, science supports that bloodless treatment is consistantly better for the patient.(And way less costly to insurance).
Next, what about the 2,000 in the US that die as a direct result of a blood transfusion? (mis typed or donor/recipient rejection).
Not to mention the the countless people infected with Hepatitis A,B,C,D,E,F G,H.....,Aids, etc. The real question how could someone risk their own by ALLOWING a blood transfusion?
Do some homework, or better yet, get a transfusion.

I am a Jehovah's witness.
Plus, I have studied the subject in detail.
Bottom line:
90% of the time, blood is used to cover over the ineptitude of the operating doctor.
Sounds unkind, doesn't it?
Ask any doctor what his marks were on his final test.
If they were great, he will tell you.
If they were so-so, he'll get haughty.
90% of the time, blood is not needed.
Delicate, intricate operations can be done without blood ....IF the doctor knows his skill.
The remaining 10%?
Is there nothing you would die for?

I believe it had to do with when Cain killed Able, and Genesis said that Able's blood called out to God. I think the JW's saw this as the blood itself being part of the soul, therefore the sharing of blood was taboo. I agree its horrible when children are left to die, but these things are ingrained in them from early childhood, not much chance of changing it.
That nonsense about doctors only needing blood transfusions if they mess up is ridiculous. Ask anyone who's lost a lot of blood in a car accident, without transfusions, not too many would survive. A lot of people die from loss of blood, has nothing to do with doctors messing up.

the same reason some jews won't eat pork and some muslim women cover their entire bodies in clothing... choice. Some Jehovah's Witnesses choose to interpret and believe that their source of religion ultimately doesn't allow such a thing.

They have religious beliefs that do not allow blood transfusion. The only thing that bothers me is if they insist on this for a sick child.

they treat their own family members horribly. If a family member does anything "against the church" the family isn't allowed to speak to that person ever again; they're dead to them. Nice, huh? I knew of family members that wouldn't aknowledge each others existence at a child's funeral. That is just messed up!!

It has to do with God's laws. We do not break them. If you really want to know, use our website for research. There are studies and scriptures that prove what I'm saying.
