Some Sabbath Churches believe in only eating the clean meat and not the unclean meat because it's in the Bible.
** TEXTS THAT INVOLVE THE CLEAN AND UNCLEAN MEATS:
GEN.18:7-8; LEV.11; 20:25; DEUT.14; ISAIAH 66:17; EZEK.22:26; DAN.1:8; MATT.3:4; LUKE 24:41-43; ACTS 10:10-14; 1COR.3:16-17; 9:27; 2COR.6:17; AND REV.21:8.
----TO ME; IF THE CLEAN AND UNCLEAN MEATS WEREN'T VALID FOR TODAY; THEN WHY OH WHY WOULD THE LORD PLEAD WITH FLESH NOT TO EAT UNCLEAN MEAT--(ISAIAH 66:15-17). ALSO NOTICE DEUT.14:4 "SHALT NOT EAT ANY ABOMINABLE THING" AND REV.21:8 "...THE ABOMINABLE SHALL HAVE THEIR PART IN THE LAKE WHICH BURNETH WITH FIRE AND BRIMSTONE: WHICH IS THE SECOND DEATH."
Now there's only the SDA church that I know of that are against eating the clean meat; they preach on the clean and unclean meats, but decide on themselves that in the future there are going to be diseases in the meat. Such as Mad Cow, Deer disease and etc.
But God says to the SDA's in 1Tim.4:1-3 ; that they can eat the clean meats; but some are so brainwashed in the church that they forgot what God said.
Well someone mentioned blood too; here's the text
"Therefore I said unto the children of Israel, No soul of you shall eat blood, neither shall any stranger that sojourneth among you eat blood."--Lev.17:12. [also look at Lev.17:14)

Well for one reason or another, most religions don't say don't eat meat, they just limit the types of meats you should eat, like pork, or shell fish, usually beef and poultry are OK. The main reason behind this is health standards when the religious law was written. Take the Jewish faith for instance, they can't eat pork (at least most of them can't, there are a few sects which have changed their ideals on this for the reason I am about to give). The reason Pork is against "God's Law" is because in the Old Testament days (and even now this can happen) Trichinosis was a huge problem (spread mainly by pigs), so pork was considered an unclean meat. Well that was back when freezing and heat methods were unknown to the civilizations of the time. Now we can all but eliminate the disease by using such freezing and heating methods, so pork is no longer an unclean animal. Next thing will be beef due to mad cow disease. Anyway, the law makers of the time would use religion to convince people not to do certain things that were really health, legal, and social issues, and shouldn't have been placed in to religious context, as "God's will".

I'm not sure specifically.
In the Old Testament, God gave the Jews all kinds of specific instructions when it came to meat altogether.
Now, however, we are allowed to eat whatever we want to. Still people choose not to eat meat or not to eat certain things for their own reasons. Whatever choice a person makes, the Bible does say we are to respect it.
As far as eating meat, read Romans Chapter 14.

Apparently they have not read 1 Timothy 4:1-5 which reads: Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth , For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving: For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.

Because according to this prophecy given to the Apostle Paul by the Holy Spirit of God, they are following the teachings of demons.
Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth. For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving: For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer. 1 Timothy 4:1-5

Sacrificing basic human instincts like eating meat and having sex is what fuels religion. People dont feel like they can be close to god without feeling some sort of anguish which makes no sense to me but......whatever floats your boat(as long as its not meat)

the rules in any given religion are meant to seperate them from all the people that are not in that religion. for instance in the days when the jewish religion was started everyone ate pigs and they were filthy animals as a symbol of the filthyness of the people God told the jews not to eat pork as they were to be seperate from the world. it is a symbol an outward expression of an inward profession. now jews arnt the only ones to practice this but i doubt you want to hear about everyone. i merely used them as an example. christians do baptism today and last supper. these do not necessarily have physical "power" they are used to remind us of an important truth that maybe we have become dull to over time. the important thing is that we are free in Christ. love your God with all your heart, soul, and mind. And do that by loving your neighbor as yourself. Live in peace...for assuridly the Prince of peace is coming..As a thief in the night and then The prince of this world shall Come Please dont stay for the prince of this world. He comes only for destruction. Pray to God, Read your bibles, come back to your first love. To Him who first loved you. And Died for you.

Why do some religions forbid people to work on Sunday?
There's no rhyme or reason to any of it.
