is this an international problem or just for Americans?

the media creates impossible standards, and those who dont meet those standards are made fun of mercelessly. its terrible really, and this tourture goes on untill our self esteems are so low that we starve ourselves to look "pretty" or take steriods to look buff. no one beilives the old saying "its whats on the inside that counts" thats pure bullsh!t we all look at whats on the outside first, no one can deny it, its human nature. and if you do have confidence all of a sudden your concieded. its a lose lose situation

Well I would say it's international but also i would ask why you are so perceptive about their self esteem, often the things that we need to look at in ourselves are what seem to flash out at us from others.

Oh, it's international! I have never met a group of women as insecure as Italian girls/women from 20-35. They are so jealous of other women and cling to their husbands like a life raft. They just don't have the confidence to believe that their husband could ever be satisfied with just them. It's really sad.

everyone, especially women, have low self esteem one way or another. what do you expect when hollywood is flaunting these beautiful, skinny, "perfect" women, and telling you that that is the way you should look. I am pretty skinny myself (90 pounds), but doesn't mean everyone has to be that way.

EVERY NATIONALITY HAS PEOPLE WITH LOW SELF ESTEEM NOT JUST AMERICANS. YOU NEED TO STAY AWAY FROM ALL THE NEGATIVITY, BECAUSE MISERY LOVES COMPANY, SO DON'T LET IT RUB OFF ON YOU. I HOPE THIS HELPS!!.

It may be old fashioned, but
what the world needs now is to unite with
our sisters be more confident in ourselves, and possess our own self respect (This takes time)
