If the two of you already discussed him not being there, did you discuss waiting to be face to face as well? If not, use your own judgment. If you're able to talk over the phone and he really wants to know, tell him. Otherwise ask him to wait until you see him. It'll work out.

Although I do feel he has the right to know, I believe you should wait to tell him in person. That is something beautiful to share and you will be able to see his response as well as hear it. I think it means so much more when you can see their expressions as it gives you a better idea of how much it means to them as well. One thing I must ask, is has he been curious at all about the baby's gender? Either way, I am sure he will be more then understanding if you tell him when you seem him, and explain why you waited to tell him.

Yes, that's mean! Put yourself in his shoes. I'm sure he's just as excited as you to find out the sex of the baby. Tell him, don't be stingy with the information. You'd want to know if you were the daddy, right?

If you want to wait till you see him face to face, then do that. He can wait a few hours, right? It's not like you're refusing to tell him at all.

The birth of a baby is a Miracle in life...

Let him know when he comes to the hospital, and seeing his son/daughter for the first time...

It will be an experience for both of you...

I wish you well..

I think it's mean for boths, for the father and the baby, who is about to come, because you will prevent your child of receive the love of his father and the father to delivers the love for his child.
Preventing this natural exchange of feelings between them, won't get all the love of your child just for yourself.

I don't think that's mean. It's not like you're not planning on telling him eventually.
