This sounds disgusting, but please be mature about it. The bottom of my left foot gets dry and kinda scaly like. The skin dies and drys out and I have to keep cutting off the dead skin. Sometimes that piece of skin on the bottom between the foot and toe splits open. It's rather embarassing and painful at times. Since I have no medical insurance I wanted to know what this may be and how to treat it. I am borderline diabetic and have heard that diabetics need to take foot problems seriously.

You need to keep your feet clean. Making sure you dry them real good after cleaning your feet. They sell antifungal cream at Wall-Mart that is cheap and works great. Just apply a thin layer over the affected area twice daily. Get between the toes and wear well fitting, ventilating shoes. Change your socks and shoes at least once daily. You may have to buy a special stone to remove the scaly dead skin on the bottom of your feet. Keep doing this for four weeks. If this doesn't help call a doctor. Also make sure you clean you bath tub good. Then wipe it down with bleach to kill any fungus.
That should clear the foot problem.

Okay, I understand that you don't have medical insurance, but please go to a foot doctor. You cannot play around with your feet when you are a diabetic. You need to be going to see a foot doctor every three months for a diabetic foot check.

I would try to use a good hand cream like Neutrogena. It will help keep the moisture in. Try to avoid going barefoot as much as possible.Try looking up info on webmd.com under diabetic problems.

Hmmmm....I don't know, for I have never heard of a case like this, but I would suggest going to a doctor, even though you don't have medical insurance. At least see a parent or some other close relative for advice.

Sounds like athlete's foot. Yes, diabetics don't heal as efficiently as others, and athlete's foot doesn't heal easily on anyone.

Try putting Vaseline on your feet , a lot, before going to bed , put socks on over that. They should be considerably better by morning. Then once you get them healed always put a good moisturizer on your feet daily. Good luck!
