I see a lot of questions from people that are Christians and it made me wonder if there were any people on here that believed in other religions other than Christianity. What is your religion? Were you born and raised on these beliefs or did you decide to choose your faith later in life? Are you satisfied with your beliefs?

I'm a Hindu and this is actually my first time on Yahoo! Answers. I think we may need some more non-Christian representatives here. There's too much bashing on non-Christians going on in these forums without anyone to explain the "other" side.

I've seen people get articles off of the internet about Hindu people from remote parts of India (not about the Hindu religion) who do freaky things (like marrying a dog or a snake) and assume that its normal in the rest of India or a Hindu thing to do. Um...dude, I think that's freaky too and no, our religion does not "OK" marrying animals.

We're a peaceful community, do not believe in converting or asking/nudging/forcing anyone to convert. We respect all religions and find the good in all religions. You will not go to hell if you're not a Hindu. You will not find any Hindu terrorists - if anything, you'll find Hindu doctors, engineers and lawyers galore. We are an educated community and unfortunately, live in a third world country that is trying its best to work its way up. Well, there's more, but I'll leave it at that for now. Please feel free to check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hinduism for more information.

Thanks!

I'm an Atheist, ready to beat on Christians who say things like, "I know there are lots of atheists here, ready to beat on christians"... :)

Atheism is not a religion, so my answer to your first question is n/a. Of course I was born not believing in God, as we all are, but I certainly heard a lot of alternate viewpoints. I suppose that when I was a child I believed in Christianity, in that kids will believe a lot of things they don't question. It slowly peeled away from me - Jesus as divine, God as a personal being, God as a figure who judges humans, God at all - but the process was done by the time I was twelve or thirteen. And yes, I am very satisfied with my beliefs.

My religion is Hinduism. No, I was born into a Christian family, but a very tolerant Christian family. My parents did not force religion upon us (my parents were two different denominations of Christianity). I was a Christian early on. Even became a Christian missionary. However, I had some problems with Christianity itself and so prayed a lot and God led me to Hinduism. When I made the change my family was and is very supportaive. Yes, I am very satisified with my beliefs.

I don't have a religion. I have found that I am more a spiritual person than I am religious, but I was raised as a Christian. Everybody in my family is Christian and when I came to believe what I do now a few of them were like, "You don't believe in God?" Of course I do, I'm just not a Christian.

I'm here and i am a proud atheist. i was actually born into christianity but decided it was not for me. i stopped going to church about 13 years ago and haven't looked back since. I'm very satisfied with what i don't believe in and am content and happy living a moral life without religion.

i was raised sort of christian. i went to a Unity church when i was little. i don't really believe in that anymore. I'm agnostic now. I'm sort of an atheist, but i don't like to rule out the possibility of there being some sort of power that we don't understand. i am satisfied with my beliefs, or lack there of i don't really feel the need for faith, though sometimes i wish i belonged to a rich culture. i will need proof before i believe anything, so I'm going to wait and see.

Raised Catholic but never really believed. Didn't think much about it until my mid-thirties when I figured out that I'm an atheist. I find this entirely satisfactory, as I don't have to be afraid of the wrath of some guy-in-the-sky (who shouldn't be playing Peeping Tom in the first place!) and I don't have to feel guilty except when I've actually done something wrong.

I am a Wiccan. I was raised a Baptist but left christianity when I was 15 yrs old. I am very satisfied with my beliefs; I feel that they have made me a more open-minded, tolerant person.

Blessed Be.

I think there r lots. I am Muslim and I am born in Iran and raised as such.
There is no question of satisfaction or disatisfaction of being a Muslim, becoz I believe fanatically in Islam and my countrymen too.
To me this is the only true religion and if I didn't do apostacy I will surely go to heaven. For my unrepented sins God might or might not punish me but even if He puts me in Hell for sometime--it's not permanent. For being a believer He will send me to heaven permanently after the punishment. For more u can contact:chutiamodon at yahoo.
