That is thoughtful of you. If it is a just because gift, then think about what she is doing and what she likes. Sounds to me like studying to be a doctor takes a lot of time. You do not need to spend alot of money at all. Even the gesture of a homemade coupon book with things like offering to run some errands for her or a massge of her neck and back..things like that offer several benefits. One, you get to know her and she to know you, it costs next to nothing, it is more personal and meaningful and really shows an attmept on your end to join in the family.
Good luck!

If you are meeting her on her birthday then get her a gift and ask your boyfriend for some ideas she is his sister so he may have some better ideas but if you are just meeting her for the first time then take her to dinner at her favorite restaurant or take her dancing you and your boyfriend and you can get to know her and enjoy her company and not be nervous because her brother/your boyfriend will be there. Don't be too quick to give gifts some people take it the wrong way and think you are trying to hard or you have an ulterior motive.

If, in your culture, gift-giving is traditional at first meetings, take her a designer water bottle for her car, bike, and work. They are available at gift shops and pro sports shops.
Unless it is her birthday, a gift is inappropriate for a first meeting, in my opinion (if you are being accompanied by your boyfriend). Your time is your gift. However, if you are invited for dinner, ask her if you can bring something. The offer is a formality ; guests are not expected to bring anything.
Be prepared to have an enjoyable visit. She will pick up on your positive energy. Good luck !

Unless it's a special day of some sort it isn't really appropriate to get her a gift. It looks as though youre trying to buy her approval. I'd let it go. If it's a special occasion, then I would stick to something that I like maybe a brooch or simple scarf...something that everyone likes and keep it very simple.

Depends on why you are getting her a gift. Is it her birthday or a holiday? If she is just having you over for a meal, how about a bottle of wine, flowers for the table or dessert. (Ask first about bringing food if she is cooking, you don't want to spoil her plans). For a gift-type occasion, how about monogrammed scrubs? She is sure to use them. Find out first if the program she is in has any color or other requriements.

If she's going to become a doctor, I would assume she's somewhat intelligent. A book of poetry might be nice. Something general but intimate for a first meeting with someone who you may be related to someday.

I think jewelry (a little sterling silver bracelet or earrings) or bath and body stuff (lotion, body spray, etc.) are pretty much universal girl gifts. If you try to get her something that is specific to one of her interests, you never know if she already has it.
Or just ask your boyfriend for ideas.
