I'm free. I work for myself. I make a very good living serving a select number of professional, blue-chip accounts. I do not punch a time clock, report to a superior, or turn in a time sheet. If a client becomes difficult to deal with, I resign them and find another. I take upwards of a month off a year, and pick up my kids from school at 3 pm. I rely on no one for more than 20% of my income. My credit cards are paid off and my mortgage payment is 20% of my monthly take home. My wife and I have, by our early 40s, accumulated 50% of what we think we'll need to retire. We're learning to sail. About the only way we're slaves is having to deal with the fascist bastards who run our educational system. But once our last kid graduates, we'll be rid of those nincompoops as well. Then we're out of here.

A man is either a slave to sin or a slave to Christ. There is no in between. I am a Slave to Christ and as such, Christ's slaves are free men.
The shackles of sin have your eyes and understanding covered my friend. If only you knew what I knew - but can not articulate well enough to benefit you.

I am as free as a slave... I have free will, yet if I go against His will, I will suffer. I am free to choose my path, yet He choose my path before I got there. I am free to decide, yet He guides my decissions... yup this makes sense right? this is what Believers believe and this is why I cannot believe this is so...
I believe I am only free to control what I know I can, others disrupt my course, but I cannot control them (slave to others wills)... so the answer is both... because I cannot control everything, but I can control some things.

As an American, I am legally free. Spiritually, I'm set free by Jesus. However, I do at times act as a slave to my habits, addictions, fears, etc.
Also, I currently have a living arrangement that's somewhat enslaving (living with my elderly homebound mother, forced to take care of her, too poor to move out and too disorganized to get myself together, as of this moment.)
I tend to be a fairly free thinker, deciding for myself what I believe and what I don't. I'm also pretty free in that I know who I am and I for the most part accept myself.

According to christianity, we are slaves, yet we aren't. They say god gave us free thought, but that he created us for a speific purpose. How are we to choose our own purpose if we were created for a specific one?
Furthermore, if he already knows everything to come, why did he create us in the first place??? How are we free if everything is already foretold?

Well as a Christian I am free in Christ to the bonds of sin, but also as a Christian I am a voluntary slave (a bond-servant ; doulos in Greek) to Christ.
