There are many environmental measurements had been done up to this time. Aquatic plants and animals that returned is coming from the tributaries that drains its water into the marsh basin

About 40% have been restored. New Scientist Magasine, a British science weekly reported this in the last 4 months. Happily, the only measure that had been done up to that time was to destroy some of the dikes Mr. Hussain constructed (in order to drain the marshes to drive out the marsh Arabs). The water, that rushed in, flooded that land and plants and animals quickly returned. Scientists are not sure where many of them came from. No planting nor species introduction had been attempted yet. But hundreds of vanished marsh-indigenous plant and animal speciecies returned to the marshes. Let's hope that the marshes continue to improve in the months to come.
