What is the effect of altitude on the speed of sound? How much does it differ from sea level to 100,000 feet?

Curious about the x-15 and its Mach flights.

the speed of sound decreases at higher altitudes, as far as how much not to sure. depends on the actual pressure. i'm pretty sure at 40,000 ft it is decreased by a lil over 100mph.
