Sigh...okay. Well first, I do not practice Christianity, I'm agnostic, but I was raised catholic so this is why I know this. Basically, Christianity didn't 'steal' the holidays or beliefs of the pagans, they just used a lot of the same days as their special days because they were trying to convert/save the pagans and also kind of phase out the practice of pagan ways. Now, this is generally known, or should be known, to most Christians, except those who are close minded and, in my opinion, those who aren't educated enough in their religion. Jesus is actually thought to have been born in the warmer months, not necessarily in December. A lot of Christians are perturbed by the commercial/consumer driven holidays because they believe we've 'lost sight' of what we're celebrating. If the pagan ways were still in wide practice, meaning in the mainstream, 'pagans' would probably have the same issues. It is the curse of the US to turn everything into a money making opportunity. Hope that clears some of it up!

Back when Christianity first came to the noe British Isles, they wanted to convert the pagans to Christianity. However, they wouldn't budge about their belief stuctre they ahve followed for hundreds of years (would you?) In a last ditch effort, the Pope told the 'missionaries" to use the pagan holidays as a rubruc of sorts for their holidays and place said holiday either before, on, of after the pagan one. That way, when they saw the pagans celebrating one of their holidays, they could easily say, "Look, they are celebrating All Saints day, too!" to the other villages they were trying to convert.

Some actually admit to it, but they still believe their religion is the Truth EVEN THOUGH there are many religious beliefs that supercede theirs by thousands of years and have the same exact storyline-the Savior born of the Virgin, the Great Flood, the Sacrifice of the Savior for human souls, the Resurrection....all of it came before Christianity. There is nothing earth shattering or unique about it. But they are in denial and continue to lie to theirselves.

For those of you that don't know about the holidays:
Easter-in Paganism called Ostara is celebrated on March 21 (vernal equinox). Same time of year as Easter. The eggs we decorate? Used as a fertility symbol in paganism

All Souls' Day/Samhain: The day that is said (In paganism) to be when the veil between the worlds of the living and the dead thins, and we can communicate with lost loved ones.

Yule/Christmas. yule is celebrated on Dec. 21, a mere 4 days before Christmas. The burning of the Yule log, the eating of ham, the hanging of boughs, holly, mistletoe, etc. are taken from traditional northern European Yule celebrations.

Need I present more evidence??

Good question! What makes me so mad about the whole thing is that most Christians have no idea what these days even MEAN. They say, "Oh the church Christianized them." If you're gonna celebrate something, at least know what you're celebrating! But no it's just easier to live in our happy little worlds and do what our ancestors have done for centuries, and never question any of it. Not only do pagans deserve an apology (since it's not ver Christian-like to steal), but God deserves an apology too, because we've replaced His holy days with pagan deities' holy days.
I for one but be a little miffed if someone snatched my days like that.

Because at that time, the Priests in Rome, Italy and most of the Mediterranean where trying to make religion and government coincide.. Since most of the people at that time were pagan and didn't want to convert, they stole our ideas and beliefs and killed us off to basically never have the truth come out.. At this time the Priests had complete control over the common people that lived in such areas, since most pagans fled and sought new places to live our religion still lives on.. But somewhat like Hitler, they couldn't stand having people disagree with their ways and like Hitler they just got rid of us..

They stole the religions because they wanted to convert us. Now, they are so brainwashed by their own dogma that to associate them with pagans is beyond their comprehension.

They consider it an insult instead of history. Its the same when you try to tell them that the Bible was constructed by a group of men at the Council of Nicea, They are like. "Nuh uh. It was made by God" They are living in this little confined fantasy world where their God always loves them and always cares what they are doing.

Its retarded. ANd if they had any intelligence, they'd realize how stupid it is. But they don't so they try to convert others because they are constantly afraid they'll go to hell because they masturbated or something.

See you in 2042.

The reason for christianity taking the holidays from pagans is that it was made up.

Christianity is all a lie, and they took those holidays to justify false beliefs.

The Nazis also took the the swastika from the Hindus, Jews took the idea of a single god from.. I forgot what..., and then Christianity and Islam took the idea from them. Every idea has been taken and evolved.
Your question was created because you took information someone had and formulated a thought about it. You information stealer. You're just as bad.

You are right!, you have been doing some studying. I am a Christian, but I came out of the church! I have been studying the Bible, and church history, for quite a while now, and thats the reason I am no longer in the church. I belong to the invisible church. The one that comes from the heart. I use to follow everything man taught me from the Bible, but now I let God teach me by the Holy Spirit and His written word. It used to be hard for me to understand the Bible, but I prayed and begged God to give me understanding. One day He answered my prayer.

why? because that is how a new idea takes root - it slowly mixes in with what is already there. If it didn't, it would be too new and alien and wouldn't sink into people's mind as the new "norm", it would just get them mad and cause people to pick up flaming torches and pitchforks and run them out of town.
