Personally I think both religions are generally misunderstood by many people. For the most part people with prejudices for Catholicism or Mormonism (or any religion) come from a "he said she said crowd". If you pick up a book (non-biased) on Mormonism or Catholicism you would learn what its true Dogma and beliefs are.
As far as Catholicism goes; its the oldest and largest Christian denomination. It has a strong history, theology and church heirachy with many ups and downs throughout its existance.
Mormonism is a real newcomer to the sceen, and its unusual since it has its own prophet (joseph smith) and unlike the other denominations its has added books to the Bible. Added to the fact its strict rules and polygamy (which most do not practice) it might seems very bizarre to those outside the religion.

Neither is a cult, In fact I am a Mormon and I dont diss your religions, go do as you wish and Ill do as I wish.
Catholics have been around more then anyother religion.
You should study about both of them and make your own decisions.
I dont thinking anyone should judge and I dont.
I hope you enjoy learning about both and you have more guts then most to learn and answer your own questions on the subject.
see ya

Why the dislike adversarial to Mormons??... nicely people have a tendency to placed down and dislike what they don't incredibly comprehend.. The prophet Stephen (a christian) had stones thrown at him and replaced into for this reason killed through a guy named Saul... besides as some others(keep in suggestions) (..and did not Saul on the time he replaced into throwing stones at Stephen, imagine he replaced into doing the lords artwork??.. Yeppers he did! ..then after being "enlightened" to his "misunderstandings" he grew to develop into (the Apostle Paul) a "believer" or christian himself. ..oh and isn't any longer a christian through definition someone who "believes" that Jesus Christ is the son of God? ..i imagine so! ...and what's the real call of "Mormons" aaaa... i'm fairly effective that is the Church of "Jesus Christ" of Latter Day Saints. the position and why each and each of the confusion?? all people who incredibly needs to understand or I could in all likelihood say "comprehend" more desirable about the "reality" and/or "Jesus Christ" (see they're an similar component) and his "teachings/gospel/church" (back an similar component) can with straightforward humble prayer, scripture learn and faith (bypass look that word up in the Bible dictionary) in Jesus Christ. an extra desirable component.. why do a touch people trust Mormons do not trust the/in the Bible.. or that they trust more desirable in the e book of Mormon... this isn't real! The leaders of the LDS Church have under no circumstances taught this. i trust each bit the Bible besides as different books to be the interest of God.

What's wrong with the mormons? They focus on the family, preach abstinance and avoid drugs, smoking and are christians too. I know lots of mormons and don't have a problem with them. What's your problem?

Catholicism has better special effects.
And if the Vatican got their hands on golden tablets supposedly inscribed with God's Law...believe me, they wouldn't lose them.
