God's name is Yahweh and it is forbidden to be spoken, (out of respect) I do not believe that useing" God" in a curse is cursing the name of the LORD. Some people believe Jesus was God , How ever Christ never said he was God . I believe that believing Jesus was God or is equal to God is a MAJOR sin, I don't think people will go to He,,11 for saying "JESUS CHRIST" or " God DA*N" if they hit their thumb with a hammer ! but I do believe the they will for comparing Jesus with God.!

In 2 Co.4:4 it say that the god of this world is Satan. He is the ruler of this system, the one most of follow without knowing. In most Bible it would say that the word God in bold letters is referring to Yahweh and it was replace with God so every time you see lower case letters god it refers to demon. In the Hebrew alphabet there is no "J", so notice also how they have put praise -Yah, Hallelujah. In Joh.17:26 I have made your name known. In Isa.12:4 call upon his name. In Rom.10:13 call on his name shall be saved ,this does not sound as if the name is forbidden. So think who are we going to call upon? So do you want to call on a demon. This is something that Satan does not want the world to know. But the time has come out that all should know his name and call upon it. Praise Yahweh.

God is a title just like Lord is. Another example: Prime Minister Harper has a name. His wife or close friends don't call him prime minister. His name is Stephen. However the majority of us call him by his title, Prime Minister. Look up Psalms 83:18. It tells you that God's name is Jehovah unless you have one of the Bible's that have taken his name out and replaced it with a title. Look in the King James. You will see that it uses his real name.

It's not exactly wrong to call the Almighty by the impersonal "God", just as it's not wrong to call one's offspring "Child". If we want a familiar and close relationship, however, it makes sense to use the personal name of someone we love.
The Hebrew name “Yahweh” (or “Yehowah”) seems to accurately pronounce the divine name. Just as the Hebrew name “Yeshua” (or “Yehoshua”) is translated into “Jesus” in English, the Hebrew name “Yahweh” is translated into “Jehovah” in English.
Some argumentative persons will argue that the Hebrew name “Yahweh” must only be translated into English as “I am what I am”. Yet such troublemakers fail to explain why they do not translate the Hebrew name “Yeshua” into English as “Jehovah is Salvation” or “I am what I am is Salvation”, which of course their small-minded literalism must surely require with regard to the name we know as “Jesus”.
The important thing is to use God’s personal name in whatever language you speak, rather than insisting upon the impersonal! The name “Yahweh” is certainly preferable to the non-name “God”, but if you speak English feel free to use "Jehovah".
Ps 83:18 That people may know that you, whose name is Jehovah, You alone are the Most High over all the earth
Saying "oh my God" is perfectly acceptable as a prayer or sincere expression, but try not to over-use it as an empty interjection.

There are billions of us on this planet. I find it hard to conceive that a being with his unimaginable raw power could get so upset if 1 billionth of the population did in fact use his name in vain. So, even if it were I don't think it matters. I think he got more upset about that when there were only about 100 thousand people on Earth.

The word God is His title, that's who He is. God's real name is a word that we cannot pronounce or even understand. The closest anyone has gotten to it is the Hebrew letters YHWH. But there is a dispute amongst too many people about how to pronounce it, so the best thing to do is just call Him by the name that He came to us with, Jesus.
And to answer your other question: When you say oh my God, God really does hear you. No one walks up to you, or the President just to say 'Oh Mr. President'. They call him by title to tell or ask him something.

Your mother and father have names, but do you call them Mary and John, or Mom and Dad. If you met Queen Elizabeth, would you call her Elizabeth or Your Majesty? If you met George W. Bush, would you call him George or Mr. President.
God is a title, and most of us like to call God by his title. I think, however, it's permissible to call him Yahweh or Jehovah or whatever you understand his name to be.
I believe that the original intent of the commandment was to prevent using Yahweh's name in witchcraft, or as if it were witchcraft, as if saying, "By Yahweh, these crops will grow one hundred fold tomorrow!" (Might make you think about the way we Christians sometimes say "In Jesus' name...")

Yes, unless you are praying to him or asking for help like "oh God please help me" then it is saying his name in vain and is considered a sin to a christian. Other religions don't look at it as a sin. But to answer your question, YES!!
