Unfortunately, a lot of people who claim to be Christians are pretty stupid. A lot of them don't know what they believe, let alone why they should believe it. This is, in part, a product of the culture in which we live. The pluralism and relativism that dominate much of American thinking tend to preclude intelligence. Despite the increasing focus on academic credentials in our society, it is still highly anti-intellectual. Whatever lip service is given to critical thinking skills in schools, I've heard very little of it in the class room. So... in essence, I would say that, because there are a lot of stupid people in the world and because Christians are people, there are a lot of stupid Christians.

...or is this question sarcastic and you're just being a narrow-minded bigot who doesn't know a thing about Christianity?

We're not. In fact, I am fairly erudite and intelligent in both Biblical and worldly matters.

Better question - why do you stereotype? Don't you think stereotypes are stupid? If stereotyping is stupid and you stereotype, does that mean are you stupid? Do you stereotype all the time? Is that a stereotype in itself? Do you even know or understand what stereotyping is? Just wondering.

BTW - Contrary to popular opinion, Christians don't just blame everything on God and avoid personal responsibility. We are held accountable by God, ourselves and each other. Blaming Christians of not being accountable for themselves in this modern culture of victimhood, plagiarism and litigation is not only untrue, it is completely out of touch with reality. Look around and see the excuses, alibis and shoddy reasons the average non-believer finds to excuse their own actions. This includes lying, which has been re-categorized as "spin." Call it what you want, it's still denial and escape from reality & personal accountability.

I get frustrated with religious fanatics, too. But if you're going to go on the site and ask questions, why not put some imaginative thought in and come up with a good one. Posting juvenile nonsense like name-calling just clutters up the site - makes it hard to find something more sophisticated.

Not all Christians are stupid, but some of us are.

Unfortunately, many of us over the last 30 years have been led to believe a political agenda that calls itself "Christian". We're led to believe that if we question this political agenda, we are questioning God. This makes many of us look stupid in the eyes of nonbelievers, fellow believers, and the rest of the world.

obviously your ignorance, and rebellious attitude, is a prime example of why Jesus Christ gave his life on the cross. when you rebel against the lord, you are in fact taking sides with the devil. (Jesus Christ offers you salvation), where as when you die (and you will die) you will either go to heaven ,and live for ever and ever, where there is no pain or suffering . or you will die and go to hell, where you will also live for ever and ever, but you will suffer pain and agony, every second of every minute of every hour of every day. Jesus gave you and i, the ability to choose,he loves even the unbelievers, and would rather that they all would ask him to come into their hearts, and ask for forgiveness for their sins, and continue following gods word, and so would i. we are living in the last days before he returns. i would suggest that you read( Revelations )very soon friend .

All Christians are not stupid, anymore than all Jews, Muslims, etc are stupid.

It's not our belief(s) that make us stupid but our actions.

Heaven helps those who help themselves. Maybe not always the way we want it exactly but how we wished it in general.

Remember the saying, "Beware what you wish for, it might become true".

It is not stupid to love our heavenly Father and his Son and to follow the Bible's teachings. Without God, you would not be able to ask this question, because you would not exist. You should start wondering about that .

They are just scared. Who can blame them? They convince themselves that they are immortal, and that paradise awaits them, just so they don't have to face the fact that they will eventually perish forever.

It's a frightening prospect, to die, and be gone forever, but the sooner we accept this the sooner we can live our lives to the fullest.
