I was with my wife, my parents and some family friend on a trip this year in April in the mountains. As it was raining a lot a small river overflowed and when we came back around 6 pm a poor man was hanging from a tree over the edge. He was all wet, tired and as we suspected probably a bit drunk. We stopped the car and asked him if he needed help, he barely moaned something. Them we realized that this man can't get back and will probably drown as his pants dropped down from the weight of the water and they were hold by his boots. If he would had dropped in the water he would have definitely drowned.
We made a human chain and after about 30 minutes got him out of the water and took him home. he was able to say only 2 words: Thank you!
These words meant a lot from a man who we just saved, probably from his death.

I applied pressure to a girl with a hole in he leg that was leaking loads of blood - probably saved her life. I looked after 3 people in my life dying from cancer - that requires a certain amount of courage. Especially when you call an emergency doctor out and the prat isn't carrying morphine. Some guy beat the **** out of me for pulling him of a girl when I was 5 years old. That was stupid - but brave at the time.... There is a fine line between courage and stupidity. My grandad - went out under fire and picked his mates up one by one and carried them to safety in the war. He did it three times - bloody miracle he wasn't shot or gassed. Of course, he was never the same again. He got the medal - just slightly lost his mind.

I ran into a burning apatrment to save my neighbors 7 year old little boy who was sleeping in his room at the time of the fire. She had gotten out but left him inside. This happened when I was 15 years old. I don't think I could do this now that I'm older. I think I thought I was invincible or something back then! I could have gotten us both killed!Anyway, I used to baby sit the boy for her sometimes prior to this. It turns out she was running a crack house! that's how the fire got started. I felt so sorry for that kid. I never saw him or her again...

Yes, but does sheros count too? I took a child who was shy and timid and built up her confidence. She was 3 years old at the time. She was bi-racial (black and white). Her mother was unsure about how to fix her hair so she cut it off and made her look like a boy. I won her trust and begin doing her hair and when she was 4 I put her in a Miss Ebony Pageant. She did not win but she had fun. I made a difference in that child's life.

I was eating at Golden Coral and this little girl (approximately 3)
was eating grapes and she suddenly started choking and flailing her arms. I raced up to save her and gave her the Heimlich maneuver. The grape popped out and the little girl started crying. The little girls parents thanked me and the little girl gave me a big hug.
THIS WAS A TRUE STORY

i was walking along a dark road when i could hear screaming, i began to scream myself because i thought some one was trying to have a laugh and i'm a bit of a joker. i realised after that a woman was getting mugged and i scared away the mugger by screaming. i was quite ashamed off myself for think someone was having a laugh but quite proud of myself because i stopped the woman from getting mugged even though she only had £2 in her purse
